Alzheimers disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of dementia. Traditional methods cannot achieve efficient and accurate diagnosis of AD. In this paper, we introduce a novel method based on dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) that can effectively capture changes in the brain. We compare and combine four different types of features including amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo), dFC and the adjacency matrix of different brain structures between subjects. We use graph convolution network (GCN) which consider the similarity of brain structure between patients to solve the classification problem of non-Euclidean domains. The proposed methods accuracy and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve achieved 91.3% and 98.4%. This result demonstrated that our proposed method can be used for detecting AD.

We propose to apply a 2D CNN architecture to 3D MRI image Alzheimers disease classification. Training a 3D convolutional neural network (CNN) is time-consuming and computationally expensive. We make use of approximate rank pooling to transform the 3D MRI image volume into a 2D image to use as input to a 2D CNN. We show our proposed CNN model achieves $9.5%$ better Alzheimers disease classification accuracy than the baseline 3D models. We also show that our method allows for efficient training, requiring only 20% of the training time compared to 3D CNN models. The code is available online: https://github.com/UkyVision/alzheimer-project.
Alzheimers disease (AD) is known as one of the major causes of dementia and is characterized by slow progression over several years, with no treatments or available medicines. In this regard, there have been efforts to identify the risk of developing AD in its earliest time. While many of the previous works considered cross-sectional analysis, more recent studies have focused on the diagnosis and prognosis of AD with longitudinal or time series data in a way of disease progression modeling (DPM). Under the same problem settings, in this work, we propose a novel computational framework that can predict the phenotypic measurements of MRI biomarkers and trajectories of clinical status along with cognitive scores at multiple future time points. However, in handling time series data, it generally faces with many unexpected missing observations. In regard to such an unfavorable situation, we define a secondary problem of estimating those missing values and tackle it in a systematic way by taking account of temporal and multivariate relations inherent in time series data. Concretely, we propose a deep recurrent network that jointly tackles the four problems of (i) missing value imputation, (ii) phenotypic measurements forecasting, (iii) trajectory estimation of the cognitive score, and (iv) clinical status prediction of a subject based on his/her longitudinal imaging biomarkers. Notably, the learnable model parameters of our network are trained in an end-to-end manner with our circumspectly defined loss function. In our experiments over TADPOLE challenge cohort, we measured performance for various metrics and compared our method to competing methods in the literature. Exhaustive analyses and ablation studies were also conducted to better confirm the effectiveness of our method.
Using multimodal neuroimaging data to characterize brain network is currently an advanced technique for Alzheimers disease(AD) Analysis. Over recent years the neuroimaging community has made tremendous progress in the study of resting-state functiona l magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) derived from blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) signals and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) derived from white matter fiber tractography. However, Due to the heterogeneity and complexity between BOLD signals and fiber tractography, Most existing multimodal data fusion algorithms can not sufficiently take advantage of the complementary information between rs-fMRI and DTI. To overcome this problem, a novel Hypergraph Generative Adversarial Networks(HGGAN) is proposed in this paper, which utilizes Interactive Hyperedge Neurons module (IHEN) and Optimal Hypergraph Homomorphism algorithm(OHGH) to generate multimodal connectivity of Brain Network from rs-fMRI combination with DTI. To evaluate the performance of this model, We use publicly available data from the ADNI database to demonstrate that the proposed model not only can identify discriminative brain regions of AD but also can effectively improve classification performance.
Deep learning has gained great success in various classification tasks. Typically, deep learning models learn underlying features directly from data, and no underlying relationship between classes are included. Similarity between classes can influenc e the performance of classification. In this article, we propose a method that incorporates class similarity knowledge into convolutional neural networks models using a graph convolution layer. We evaluate our method on two benchmark image datasets: MNIST and CIFAR10, and analyze the results on different data and model sizes. Experimental results show that our model can improve classification accuracy, especially when the amount of available data is small.

In this paper, we propose a spectral-spatial graph reasoning network (SSGRN) for hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. Concretely, this network contains two parts that separately named spatial graph reasoning subnetwork (SAGRN) and spectral graph reasoning subnetwork (SEGRN) to capture the spatial and spectral graph contexts, respectively. Different from the previous approaches implementing superpixel segmentation on the original image or attempting to obtain the category features under the guide of label image, we perform the superpixel segmentation on intermediate features of the network to adaptively produce the homogeneous regions to get the effective descriptors. Then, we adopt a similar idea in spectral part that reasonably aggregating the channels to generate spectral descriptors for spectral graph contexts capturing. All graph reasoning procedures in SAGRN and SEGRN are achieved through graph convolution. To guarantee the global perception ability of the proposed methods, all adjacent matrices in graph reasoning are obtained with the help of non-local self-attention mechanism. At last, by combining the extracted spatial and spectral graph contexts, we obtain the SSGRN to achieve a high accuracy classification. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments on three public HSI benchmarks demonstrate the competitiveness of the proposed methods compared with other state-of-the-art approaches.
