The determination of the weight distribution of linear codes has been a fascinating problem since the very beginning of coding theory. There has been a lot of research on weight enumerators of special cases, such as self-dual codes and codes with small Singletons defect. We propose a new set of linear relations that must be satisfied by the coefficients of the weight distribution. From these relations we are able to derive known identities (in an easier way) for interesting cases, such as extremal codes, Hermitian codes, MDS and NMDS codes. Moreover, we are able to present for the first time the weight distribution of AMDS codes. We also discuss the link between our results and the Pless equations.

We introduce the concept of spread of a code, and we specialize it to the case of maximum weight spectrum (MWS) codes. We classify two newly-defined sub-families of MWS codes according to their weight distributions, and completely describe their fund amental parameters. We focus on one of these families, the strictly compact MWS codes, proving their optimality as MWS codes and linking them to known codes.
We give a new, purely coding-theoretic proof of Kochs criterion on the tetrad systems of Type II codes of length 24 using the theory of harmonic weight enumerators. This approach is inspired by Venkovs approach to the classification of the root syste ms of Type II lattices in R^{24}, and gives a new instance of the analogy between lattices and codes.
We classify all $q$-ary $Delta$-divisible linear codes which are spanned by codewords of weight $Delta$. The basic building blocks are the simplex codes, and for $q=2$ additionally the first order Reed-Muller codes and the parity check codes. This ge neralizes a result of Pless and Sloane, where the binary self-orthogonal codes spanned by codewords of weight $4$ have been classified, which is the case $q=2$ and $Delta=4$ of our classification. As an application, we give an alternative proof of a theorem of Liu on binary $Delta$-divisible codes of length $4Delta$ in the projective case.
Linear codes with a few weights have important applications in authentication codes, secret sharing, consumer electronics, etc.. The determination of the parameters such as Hamming weight distributions and complete weight enumerators of linear codes are important research topics. In this paper, we consider some classes of linear codes with a few weights and determine the complete weight enumerators from which the corresponding Hamming weight distributions are derived with help of some sums involving Legendre symbol.
We consider the algebraic combinatorics of the set of injections from a $k$-element set to an $n$-element set. In particular, we give a new combinatorial formula for the spherical functions of the Gelfand pair $(S_k times S_n, text{diag}(S_k) times S _{n-k})$. We use this combinatorial formula to give new Delsarte linear programming bounds on the size of codes over injections.
