An exact solution of nuclear spherical mean-field plus orbit-dependent non-separable pairing model with two non-degenerate j-orbits is presented. The extended one-variable Heine-Stieltjes polynomials associated to the Bethe ansatz equations of the solution are determined, of which the sets of the zeros give the solution of the model, and can be determined relatively easily. A comparison of the solution to that of the standard pairing interaction with constant interaction strength among pairs in any orbit is made. It is shown that the overlaps of eigenstates of the model with those of the standard pairing model are always large, especially for the ground and the first excited state. However, the quantum phase crossover in the non-separable pairing model cannot be accounted for by the standard pairing interaction.

We consider the spherical model on a spider-web graph. This graph is effectively infinite-dimensional, similar to the Bethe lattice, but has loops. We show that these lead to non-trivial corrections to the simple mean-field behavior. We first determi ne all normal modes of the coupled springs problem on this graph, using its large symmetry group. In the thermodynamic limit, the spectrum is a set of $delta$-functions, and all the modes are localized. The fractional number of modes with frequency less than $omega$ varies as $exp (-C/omega)$ for $omega$ tending to zero, where $C$ is a constant. For an unbiased random walk on the vertices of this graph, this implies that the probability of return to the origin at time $t$ varies as $exp(- C t^{1/3})$, for large $t$, where $C$ is a constant. For the spherical model, we show that while the critical exponents take the values expected from the mean-field theory, the free-energy per site at temperature $T$, near and above the critical temperature $T_c$, also has an essential singularity of the type $exp[ -K {(T - T_c)}^{-1/2}]$.

A quantum Monte-Carlo is proposed to describe fusion/fission processes when fluctuation and dissipation, with memory effects, are important. The new theory is illustrated for systems with inverted harmonic potentials coupled to a heat-bath.
The collective and purely relaxational dynamics of quantum many-body systems after a quench at temperature $T=0$, from a disordered state to various phases is studied through the exact solution of the quantum Langevin equation of the spherical and th e $O(n)$-model in the limit $ntoinfty$. The stationary state of the quantum dynamics is shown to be a non-equilibrium state. The quantum spherical and the quantum $O(n)$-model for $ntoinfty$ are in the same dynamical universality class. The long-time behaviour of single-time and two-time correlation and response functions is analysed and the universal exponents which characterise quantum coarsening and quantum ageing are derived. The importance of the non-Markovian long-time memory of the quantum noise is elucidated by comparing it with an effective Markovian noise having the same scaling behaviour and with the case of non-equilibrium classical dynamics.

An algebraic method is devised to look for non-local symmetries of the pseudopotential type of nonlinear field equations. The method is based on the use of an infinite-dimensional subalgebra of the prolongation algebra $L$ associated with the equatio ns under consideration. Our approach, which is applied by way of example to the Dym and the Korteweg-de Vries equations, allows us to obtain a general formula for the infinitesimal operator of the non-local symmetries expressed in terms of elements of $L$. The method could be exploited to investigate the symmetry properties of other nonlinear field equations possessing nontrivial prolongations.
We perform systematic calculations of pairing gaps in semi-magic nuclei across the nuclear chart using the Energy Density Functional method and a {it non-empirical} pairing functional derived, without further approximation, at lowest order in the two -nucleon vacuum interaction, including the Coulomb force. The correlated single-particle motion is accounted for by the SLy4 semi-empirical functional. Rather unexpectedly, both neutron and proton pairing gaps thus generated are systematically close to experimental data. Such a result further suggests that missing effects, i.e. higher partial-waves of the NN interaction, the NNN interaction and the coupling to collective fluctuations, provide an overall contribution that is sub-leading as for generating pairing gaps in nuclei. We find that including the Coulomb interaction is essential as it reduces proton pairing gaps by up to 40%.
