We relate open book decompositions of a 4-manifold M with its Engel structures. Our main result is, given an open book decomposition of M whose binding is a collection of 2-tori and whose monodromy preserves a framing of a page, the construction of an En-gel structure whose isotropic foliation is transverse to the interior of the pages and tangent to the binding. In particular the pages are contact man-ifolds and the monodromy is a contactomorphism. As a consequence, on a parallelizable closed 4-manifold, every open book with toric binding carries in the previous sense an Engel structure. Moreover, we show that amongst the supported Engel structures we construct, there is a class of loose Engel structures.

This article introduces the notion of a loose family of Engel structures and shows that two such families are Engel homotopic if and only if they are formally homotopic. This implies a complete h-principle when some auxiliary data is fixed. As a coro llary, we show that Lorentz and orientable Cartan prolongations are classified up to homotopy by their formal data.
We establish convergence of spectra of Neumann Laplacian in a thin neighborhood of a branching 2D structure in 3D to the spectrum of an appropriately defined operator on the structure itself. This operator is a 2D analog of the well known by now quan tum graphs. As in the latter case, such considerations are triggered by various physics and engineering applications.
We construct open book structures on all moment-angle manifolds and describe the topology of their leaves and bindings under certain restrictions. II. We also show, using a recent deep result about contact forms due to Borman, Eliashberg and Murphy [ 6], that every odd-dimensional moment-angle manifold admits a contact structure. This contrasts with the fact that, except for a few, well-determined cases, even-dimensional ones do not admit symplectic structures. We obtain the same results for large families of more general intersections of quadrics.
We analyze two different fibrations of a link complement M constructed by McMullen-Taubes, and studied further by Vidussi. These examples lead to inequivalent symplectic forms on a 4-manifold X = S x M, which can be distinguished by the dimension of the primitive cohomologies of differential forms. We provide a general algorithm for computing the monodromies of the fibrations explicitly, which are needed to determine the primitive cohomologies. We also investigate a similar phenomenon coming from fibrations of a class of graph links, whose primitive cohomology provides information about the fibration structure.

This paper is devoted to the study of Morita equivalence for twisted Poisson manifolds. We review some Morita invariants and prove that integrable twisted Poisson manifolds which are gauge equivalent are Morita equivalent. Moreover, we introduce the notion of weak Morita equivalence and show that if two twisted Poisson manifolds are weak Morita equivalent, there exists a one-to-one correspondence between their twisted symplectic leaves.
