We present a self-contained discussion of the universality classes of the generalized epidemic process (GEP) on Poisson random networks, which is a simple model of social contagions with cooperative effects. These effects lead to rich phase transitional behaviors that include continuous and discontinuous transitions with tricriticality in between. With the help of a comprehensive finite-size scaling theory, we numerically confirm static and dynamic scaling behaviors of the GEP near continuous phase transitions and at tricriticality, which verifies the field-theoretical results of previous studies. We also propose a proper criterion for the discontinuous transition line, which is shown to coincide with the bond percolation threshold.

We report a systematic study of finite-temperature spin transport in quantum and classical one-dimensional magnets with isotropic spin interactions, including both integrable and non-integrable models. Employing a phenomenological framework based on a generalized Burgers equation in a time-dependent stochastic environment, we identify four different universality classes of spin fluctuations. These comprise, aside from normal spin diffusion, three types of superdiffusive transport: the KPZ universality class and two distinct types of anomalous diffusion with multiplicative logarithmic corrections. Our predictions are supported by extensive numerical simulations on various examples of quantum and classical chains. Contrary to common belief, we demonstrate that even non-integrable spin chains can display a diverging spin diffusion constant at finite temperatures.
The effects of bond randomness on the universality aspects of the simple cubic lattice ferromagnetic Blume-Capel model are discussed. The system is studied numerically in both its first- and second-order phase transition regimes by a comprehensive fi nite-size scaling analysis. We find that our data for the second-order phase transition, emerging under random bonds from the second-order regime of the pure model, are compatible with the universality class of the 3d random Ising model. Furthermore, we find evidence that, the second-order transition emerging under bond randomness from the first-order regime of the pure model, belongs to a new and distinctive universality class. The first finding reinforces the scenario of a single universality class for the 3d Ising model with the three well-known types of quenched uncorrelated disorder (bond randomness, site- and bond-dilution). The second, amounts to a strong violation of universality principle of critical phenomena. For this case of the ex-first-order 3d Blume-Capel model, we find sharp differences from the critical behaviors, emerging under randomness, in the cases of the ex-first-order transitions of the corresponding weak and strong first-order transitions in the 3d three-state and four-state Potts models.
Universality is one of the key concepts in understanding critical phenomena. However, for interacting inhomogeneous systems described by complex networks a clear understanding of the relevant parameters for universality is still missing. Here we disc uss the role of a fundamental network parameter for universality, the spectral dimension. For this purpose, we construct a complex network model where the probability of a bond between two nodes is proportional to a power law of the nodes distances. By explicit computation we prove that the spectral dimension for this model can be tuned continuously from $1$ to infinity, and we discuss related network connectivity measures. We propose our model as a tool to probe universal behaviour on inhomogeneous structures and comment on the possibility that the universal behaviour of correlated models on such networks mimics the one of continuous field theories in fractional Euclidean dimensions.
Using the finite-size scaling, we have investigated the percolation phase transitions of evolving random networks under a generalized Achlioptas process (GAP). During this GAP, the edge with minimum product of two connecting cluster sizes is taken wi th a probability $p$ from two randomly chosen edges. This model becomes the ErdH os-Renyi network at $p=0.5$ and the random network under the Achlioptas process at $p=1$. Using both the fixed point of $s_2/s_1$ and the straight line of $ln s_1$, where $s_1$ and $s_2$ are the reduced sizes of the largest and the second largest cluster, we demonstrate that the phase transitions of this model are continuous for $0.5 le p le 1$. From the slopes of $ln s_1$ and $ln (s_2/s_1)$ at the critical point we get the critical exponents $beta$ and $ u$, which depend on $p$. Therefore the universality class of this model should be characterized by $p$ also.

The three-dimensional bimodal random-field Ising model is investigated using the N-fold version of the Wang-Landau algorithm. The essential energy subspaces are determined by the recently developed critical minimum energy subspace technique, and two implementations of this scheme are utilized. The random fields are obtained from a bimodal discrete $(pmDelta)$ distribution, and we study the model for various values of the disorder strength $Delta$, $Delta=0.5, 1, 1.5$ and 2, on cubic lattices with linear sizes $L=4-24$. We extract information for the probability distributions of the specific heat peaks over samples of random fields. This permits us to obtain the phase diagram and present the finite-size behavior of the specific heat. The question of saturation of the specific heat is re-examined and it is shown that the open problem of universality for the random-field Ising model is strongly influenced by the lack of self-averaging of the model. This property appears to be substantially depended on the disorder strength.
