The introduction of a strong Rashba spin orbit coupling (SOC) had been predicted to enhance the spin motive force (SMF) [see Phys. Rev. Lett. {bf 108}, 217202 (2012)]. In this work, we predict further enhancement of the SMF by time modulation of the Rashba coupling $alpha_R$, which induces an additional electric field $E^R_d={dot alpha_R} m_e/ehbar({hat z}times {mathbf m})$. When the modulation frequency is higher than the magnetization precessing frequency, the amplitude of this field is significantly larger than previously predicted results. Correspondingly, the spin torque on the magnetization is also effectively enhanced. Additionally, the nature of SOC induced spin torque in the system can be transformed from damping to antidamping-like by modulating ${dot alpha_R}$. We also suggest a biasing scheme to achieve rectification of SMF, {it i.e.}, by application of a square wave voltage at the resonant frequency. Finally, we numerically estimate the resulting spin torque field arising from a Gaussian pulse time modulation of $alpha_R$.

We have investigated spin and carrier dynamics of resident holes in high-mobility two-dimensional hole systems in GaAs/Al$_{0.3}$Ga$_{0.7}$As single quantum wells at temperatures down to 400 mK. Time-resolved Faraday and Kerr rotation, as well as tim e-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy are utilized in our study. We observe long-lived hole spin dynamics that are strongly temperature dependent, indicating that in-plane localization is crucial for hole spin coherence. By applying a gate voltage, we are able to tune the observed hole g factor by more than 50 percent. Calculations of the hole g tensor as a function of the applied bias show excellent agreement with our experimental findings.
We investigate the spin Hall effect (SHE) in a wide class of spin-orbit coupling systems by using spin force picture. We derive the general relation equation between spin force and spin current and show that the longitudinal force component can induc e a spin Hall current, from which we reproduce the spin Hall conductivity obtained previously using Kubos formula. This simple spin force picture gives a clear and intuitive explanation for SHE.
We study the local equilibrium properties of two-dimensional electron gases at high magnetic fields in the presence of random smooth electrostatic disorder, Rashba spin-orbit coupling, and the Zeeman interaction. Using a systematic magnetic length ($ l_B$) expansion within a Greens function framework we derive quantum functionals for the local spin-resolved particle and current densities which can be useful for future studies combining disorder and mean-field electron-electron interaction in the quantum Hall regime. We point out that the spin polarization presents a peculiar spatial dependence which can be used to determine the strength of the Rashba coupling by local probes. The spatial structure of the current density, consisting of both compressible and incompressible contributions, also essentially reflects the effects of Rashba spin-orbit interaction on the energy spectrum. We show that in the semiclassical limit $l_B rightarrow 0$ the local Hall conductivity remains, however, still quantized in units of $e^2/h$ for any finite strength of the spin-orbit interaction. In contrast, it becomes half-integer quantized when the latter is infinite, a situation which corresponds to a disordered topological insulator surface consisting of a single Dirac cone. Finally, we argue how to define at high magnetic fields a spin Hall conductivity related to a dissipationless angular momentum flow, which is characterized by a sequence of plateaus as a function of the inverse magnetic field (thus free of resonances).
Employing unbiased large-scale time-dependent density-matrix renormalization-group simulations, we demonstrate the generation of a charge-current vortex via spin injection in the Rashba system. The spin current is polarized perpendicular to the syste m plane and injected from an attached antiferromagnetic spin chain. We discuss the conversion between spin and orbital angular momentum in the current vortex that occurs because of the conservation of the total angular momentum and the spin-orbit interaction. This is in contrast to the spin Hall effect, in which the angular-momentum conservation is violated. Finally, we predict the electromagnetic field that accompanies the vortex with regard to possible future experiments.
In classical spin systems with two largely different inherent time scales, the configuration of the fast spins almost instantaneously follows the slow-spin dynamics. We develop the emergent effective theory for the slow-spin degrees of freedom and de monstrate that this generally includes a topological spin torque. This torque gives rise to anomalous real-time dynamics. It derives from the holonomic constraints defining the fast-spin configuration space and is given in terms of a topological charge density which becomes a quantized homotopy invariant when integrated.
