We discuss transpose (sometimes called universal exchange or all-to-all) on vertex symmetric networks. We provide a method to compare the efficiency of transpose schemes on two different networks with a cost function based on the number processors and wires needed to complete a given algorithm in a given time.

Let $D=(V,A)$ be a digraphs without isolated vertices. A vertex-degree based invariant $I(D)$ related to a real function $varphi$ of $D$ is defined as a summation over all arcs, $I(D) = frac{1}{2}sum_{uvin A}{varphi(d_u^+,d_v^-)}$, where $d_u^+$ (res p. $d_u^-$) denotes the out-degree (resp. in-degree) of a vertex $u$. In this paper, we give the extremal values and extremal digraphs of $I(D)$ over all digraphs with $n$ non-isolated vertices. Applying these results, we obtain the extremal values of some vertex-degree based topological indices of digraphs, such as the Randi{c} index, the Zagreb index, the sum-connectivity index, the $GA$ index, the $ABC$ index and the harmonic index, and the corresponding extremal digraphs.
An intersection digraph is a digraph where every vertex $v$ is represented by an ordered pair $(S_v, T_v)$ of sets such that there is an edge from $v$ to $w$ if and only if $S_v$ and $T_w$ intersect. An intersection digraph is reflexive if $S_vcap T_ v eq emptyset$ for every vertex $v$. Compared to well-known undirected intersection graphs like interval graphs and permutation graphs, not many algorithmic applications on intersection digraphs have been developed. Motivated by the successful story on algorithmic applications of intersection graphs using a graph width parameter called mim-width, we introduce its directed analogue called `bi-mim-width and prove that various classes of reflexive intersection digraphs have bounded bi-mim-width. In particular, we show that as a natural extension of $H$-graphs, reflexive $H$-digraphs have linear bi-mim-width at most $12|E(H)|$, which extends a bound on the linear mim-width of $H$-graphs [On the Tractability of Optimization Problems on $H$-Graphs. Algorithmica 2020]. For applications, we introduce a novel framework of direct
We introduce and study a digraph analogue of Stanleys $psi$-graphical arrangements from the perspectives of combinatorics and freeness. Our arrangements form a common generalization of various classes of arrangements in literature including the Catal an arrangement, the Shi arrangement, the Ish arrangement, and especially the arrangements interpolating between Shi and Ish recently introduced by Duarte and Guedes de Oliveira. The arrangements between Shi and Ish all are proved to have the same characteristic polynomial with all integer roots, thus raising the natural question of their freeness. We define two operations on digraphs, which we shall call king and coking elimination operations and prove that subject to certain conditions on the weight $psi$, the operations preserve the characteristic polynomials and freeness of the associated arrangements. As an application, we affirmatively prove that the arrangements between Shi and Ish all are free, and among them only the Ish arrangement has supersolvable cone.
Given a graph $G=(V,E)$ and a positive integer $tgeq2$, the task in the vertex cover $P_t$ ($VCP_t$) problem is to find a minimum subset of vertices $Fsubseteq V$ such that every path of order $t$ in $G$ contains at least one vertex from $F$. The $VC P_t$ problem is NP-complete for any integer $tgeq2$ and has many applications in real world. Recently, the authors presented a dynamic programming algorithm running in time $4^pcdot n^{O(1)}$ for the $VCP_3$ problem on $n$-vertex graphs with treewidth $p$. In this paper, we propose an improvement of it and improved the time-complexity to $3^pcdot n^{O(1)}$. The connected vertex cover $P_3$ ($CVCP_3$) problem is the connected variation of the $VCP_3$ problem where $G[F]$ is required to be connected. Using the Cut&Count technique, we give a randomized algorithm with runtime $4^pcdot n^{O(1)}$ for the $CVCP_3$ problem on $n$-vertex graphs with treewidth $p$.
A (vertex) $ell$-ranking is a labelling $varphi:V(G)tomathbb{N}$ of the vertices of a graph $G$ with integer colours so that for any path $u_0,ldots,u_p$ of length at most $ell$, $varphi(u_0) eqvarphi(u_p)$ or $varphi(u_0)<max{varphi(u_0),ldots,varph i(u_p)}$. We show that, for any fixed integer $ellge 2$, every $n$-vertex planar graph has an $ell$-ranking using $O(log n/logloglog n)$ colours and this is tight even when $ell=2$; for infinitely many values of $n$, there are $n$-vertex planar graphs, for which any 2-ranking requires $Omega(log n/logloglog n)$ colours. This result also extends to bounded genus graphs. In developing this proof we obtain optimal bounds on the number of colours needed for $ell$-ranking graphs of treewidth $t$ and graphs of simple treewidth $t$. These upper bounds are constructive and give $O(nlog n)$-time algorithms. Additional results that come from our techniques include new sublogarithmic upper bounds on the number of colours needed for $ell$-rankings of apex minor-free graphs and $k$-planar graphs.
