The maximum beam current can be accelerated in an Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) can be severely limited by the transverse multi-pass beam breakup instability (BBU), especially in future ERL light sources with multi-GeV high energy beam energy and more than 100 mA average current. In this paper, the multi-pass BBU of such a high energy ERL is studied based on the simulation on a 3-GeV ERL light source proposed by KEK. It is expected to provide a reference to the future high energy ERL projects by this work.
The ELIMED (MEDical and multidisciplinary application at ELI Beamlines) beam line is being developed at INFN-LNS with the aim of transporting and selecting in energy proton and ion beams accelerated by laser-matter interaction at ELI Beamlines in Pra
A special beam line for high energy electron radiography is designed, including achromat and imaging systems. The requirement of the angle and position correction on the target from imaging system can be approximately realized by fine tuning the quad
MESA (Mainz Energy recovery Superconducting Accelerator) is an energy recovery linac (ERL) which is under construction at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. It will be operated in external beam (EB) mode with 150 $mu$A electron beam at 155 MeV a
A high luminosity energy recovery linac on ring type electron-positron collider operating as super charm factory is proposed. It is shown that the luminosity L=2.3 10^35 cm^-2s^-1 can be achieved for center of mass energy 3.77 GeV. The physics goals
A new system used for monitoring energetic Coulomb-scattered electrons as the main diagnostic for accurately aligning the electron and ion beams in the new Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) electron lenses is described in detail. The theory of e
