We address the gravitation and inertia in the framework of general gauge principle, which accounts for gravitation gauge group generated by hidden local internal symmetry implemented on the flat space. We connect this group to nonlinear realization of the Lie group of distortion of local internal properties of six-dimensional flat space, which is assumed as a toy model underlying four-dimensional Minkowski space. The agreement between proposed gravitational theory and available observational verifications is satisfactory. We construct relativistic field theory of inertia and derive the relativistic law of inertia. This theory furnishes justification for introduction of the Principle of Equivalence. We address the rearrangement of vacuum state in gravity resulting from these ideas.

Metastable states decay at zero temperature through quantum tunneling at an exponentially small rate, which depends on the Coleman-de Luccia instanton, also known as bounce. In some theories, the bounce may not exist or its on-shell action may be ill -defined or infinite, thus hindering the vacuum decay process. In this paper, we test this possibility in modified theories of gravity interacting with a real scalar field. We consider an Einstein-Hilbert term with a non-minimally coupled scalar field and a quadratic Ricci scalar contribution. To tackle the problem we use a new analytic method, with which we prove that the scalar field on the bounce has a universal behavior at large Euclidean radii, almost independently of the potential. Our main result is that the quadratic Ricci scalar prevents the decay, regardless of the other terms in the action. We also comment on the numerical implications of our findings.
False vacuum decay in field theory may be formulated as a boundary value problem in Euclidean space. In a previous work, we studied its solution in single scalar field theories with quadratic gravity and used it to find obstructions to vacuum decay. For simplicity, we focused on massless scalar fields and false vacua with a flat geometry. In this paper, we generalize those findings to massive scalar fields with the same gravitational interactions, namely an Einstein-Hilbert term, a quadratic Ricci scalar, and a non-minimal coupling. We find that the scalar field reaches its asymptotic value faster than in the massless case, in principle allowing for a wider range of theories that may accommodate vacuum decay. Nonetheless, this hardly affects the viability of the bounce in the scenarios here considered. We also briefly consider other physically interesting theories by including higher-order kinetic terms and changing the number of spacetime dimensions.

I exhibit the conflicting roles of Noethers two great theorems in defining conserved quantities, especially Energy in General Relativity and its extensions: It is the breaking of coordinate invariance through boundary conditions that removes the barr ier her second theorem otherwise poses to the applicability of her first. There is nothing new here, except the emphasis that General must be broken down to Special Relativity in a special, but physically natural, way in order for the Poincare or other global groups such as (A)dS to re-emerge.
A number of recent observations have suggested that the Einsteins theory of general relativity may not be the ultimate theory of gravity. The f(R) gravity model with R being the scalar curvature turns out to be one of the best bet to surpass the gene ral relativity which explains a number of phenomena where Einsteins theory of gravity fails. In the f(R) gravity, behaviour of the spacetime is modified as compared to that of given by the Einsteins theory of general relativity. This theory has already been explored for understanding various compact objects such as neutron stars, white dwarfs etc. and also describing evolution of the universe. Although, researchers have already found the vacuum spacetime solutions for the f(R) gravity, yet there is a caveat that the metric does have some diverging terms and hence these solutions are not asymptotically flat. We show that it is possible to have asymptotically flat spherically symmetric vacuum solution for the f(R) gravity, which is different from the Schwarzschild solution. We use this solution for explaining various bound orbits around the black hole and eventually, as an immediate application, in the spherical accretion flow around it.
We analyse the vacuum static spherically symmetric space-time for a specific class of non-conservative theories of gravity based on the Rastalls theory. We obtain a new vacuum solution which has the same structure as the Schwarzschild-de Sitter solut ion in the General Relativity theory obtained with a cosmological constant playing the r^ole of source. We further discuss the structure (in particular, the coupling to matter fields) and some cosmological aspects of the underline non-conservative theory
