An overview of the ESO/Radionet workshop devoted to 3D optical/near-infrared and sub-mm/radio observations of gas and stars in galaxies is presented. There will be no published proceedings but presentations are available at http://www.eso.org/sci/meetings/gal3D2008/program.html . The main aim of this ESO/Radionet workshop was to bring together the optical/ near-IR and sub-mm/radio communities working on three-dimensional (3D) extragalactic data. The meeting was attended by more than 150 scientists. This article, due to space limitations, provides a, necessarily biased, overview of the meeting.
In this article, we review some key aspects of a multi-wavelength flare which have essentially contributed to form a standard flare model based on the magnetic reconnection. The emphasis is given on the recent observations taken by the Reuven Ramaty
We are conducting the first systematic 3D spectroscopic imaging survey to quantify the properties of the atomic gas (HI) in a distance-limited sample of 28 Seyfert galaxies and a sample of 28 inactive control galaxies with well-matched optical proper
Using a sample of 38 radio-loud galaxy mergers at z<=0.2, we confirm the high detection rate (~84%) of HI 21-cm absorption in mergers, which is significantly higher (~4 times) than in non-mergers. The distributions of the HI column density [N(HI)] an
I will present recent theoretical results on the formation and the high redshift assembly of spheroids. These findings have been obtained by utilising different and complementary techniques: chemodynamical models offer great insight in the radial abu
We present new Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA) 1.3 mm continuum observations of the SR 24S transition disk with an angular resolution $lesssim0.18$ (12 au radius). We perform a multi-wavelength investigation by combining new data
