We present an exploratory study of gaugino-pair production in polarized and unpolarized hadron collisions, focusing on the correlation of beam polarization and gaugino/Higgsino mixing in the general Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Helicity-dependent cross sections induced by neutral and charged electroweak currents and squark exchanges are computed analytically in terms of generalized charges, defined similarly for chargino-pair, neutralino-chargino associated, and neutralino-pair production. Our results confirm and extend those obtained previously for negligible Yukawa couplings and nonmixing squarks. Assuming that the lightest chargino mass is known, we show numerically that measurements of the longitudinal single-spin asymmetry at the existing polarized pp collider RHIC and at possible polarization upgrades of the Tevatron or the LHC would allow for a determination of the gaugino/Higgsino fractions of charginos and neutralinos. The theoretical uncertainty coming from factorization scale and squark mass variations and the expected experimental error on the lightest chargino mass is generally smaller than the one induced by the polarized parton densities, so that more information on the latter would considerably improve on the analysis.

We investigate lepton-pair production in hard exclusive hadron-hadron collisions. We consider a double handbag (DH) mechanism in which the process amplitude factorizes in hard subprocesses, qq -> qq gamma* and qg -> qg gamma*, and in soft hadron ma trix elements parameterized as generalized parton distributions (GPDs). Employing GPDs extracted from exclusive meson electroproduction, we present predictions for the lepton-pair cross section at kinematics typical for the LHC, NICA and FAIR. It turns out from our numerical studies that the quark-gluon subprocess dominates by far, the quark-quark (antiquark) subprocesses are almost negligible.
We consider the azimuthal $cos varphi$ and $cos 2varphi$ distributions and the Callan-Gross ratio $R={rm d}sigma_L/{rm d}sigma_T$ in heavy-quark pair electroproduction, $lNrightarrow l^{prime}Qbar{Q}X$, as probes of linearly polarized gluons in unpol arized nucleons. Our analysis shows that the azimuthal asymmetries and Callan-Gross ratio are predicted to be large and very sensitive to the contribution of the gluonic counterpart of the Boer-Mulders function, $h_{1}^{perp g}$, describing the linear polarization of gluons inside unpolarized nucleon. In particular, the maximum values of the azimuthal distributions vary from 0 to 1 depending on $h_{1}^{perp g}$. We conclude that future measurements of these quantities at the proposed EIC and LHeC colliders could clarify in details the proton spin decomposition puzzle.
We study the effects of O(alpha_s) supersymmetric QCD (SQCD) corrections on the total production rate and kinematic distributions of polarized and unpolarized top-pair production in pp and p anti-p collisions. At the Fermilab Tevatron p anti-p collid er, top-quark pairs are mainly produced via quark-antiquark annihilation, q anti-q -> t anti-t, while at the CERN LHC pp collider gluon-gluon scattering, g g -> t anti-t, dominates. We compute the complete set of O(alpha_s) SQCD corrections to both production channels and study their dependence on the parameters of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. In particular, we discuss the prospects for observing strong, loop-induced SUSY effects in top-pair production at the Tevatron Run II and the LHC.

We study pair production of scalar top quarks in polarized photon-photon collisions with the subsequent decay of the top squarks into b-quarks and charginos. We simulate this process by using PYTHIA6.4 for an electron beam energy 2E_beam =1000 GeV. A set of criteria for physical variables is proposed which leads to a good separation of stop signal events from top quark pair production being the main background. These criteria allow us to reconstruct the mass of the top squark provided that the neutralino mass is known.
We present the full next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) coefficient functions for the polarized cross section $dDelta sigma/dQ$ for the Drell-Yan process $p + pto l^+l^- + X$. Here $X$ denotes any inclusive hadronic state and $Q$ represents the inva riant mass of the lepton pair. All QCD partonic subprocesses have been included provided the lepton pair is created by a virtual photon, which is a valid approximation for $Q<50$ GeV. Unlike the differential distribution w.r.t. transverse momentum the dominant subprocess for the integrated cross section is given by $q+bar q to gamma^* + X$ and its higher order corrections so that massive lepton pair production provides us with an excellent tool to measure the polarized anti-quark densities. Our calculations are carried out using the method of $n$-dimensional regularization by making a special choice for the $gamma_5$ matrix. We give predictions for double longitudinal spin asymmetry measurements at the RHIC.
