We have studied the iso-height lines on the $mathrm{WO_3}$ surface as a physical candidate for conformally invariant curves. We have shown that these lines are conformally invariant with the same statistics of domain walls in the critical Ising model. They belong to the family of conformal invariant curves called Schramm-Loewner evolution (or $SLE_{kappa}$), with diffusivity of $kappa sim 3$. This can be regarded as the first experimental observation of SLE curves. We have also argued that Ballistic Deposition (BD) can serve as a growth model giving rise to contours with similar statistics at large scales.

We consider an overdamped Brownian particle, exposed to a two-dimensional, square lattice potential and a rectangular ac-drive. Depending on the driving amplitude, the linear response to a weak dc-force along a lattice symmetry axis consist in a mobi lity in basically any direction. In particular, motion exactly opposite to the applied dc-force may arise. Upon changing the angle of the dc-force relatively to the square lattice, the particle motion remains predominantly opposite to the dc-force. The basic physical mechanism consists in a spontaneous symmetry breaking of the unbiased deterministic particle dynamics.

We propose a systematic method to extract conformal loop models for rational conformal field theories (CFT). Method is based on defining an ADE model for boundary primary operators by using the fusion matrices of these operators as adjacency matrices . These loop models respect the conformal boundary conditions. We discuss the loop models that can be extracted by this method for minimal CFTs and then we will give dilute O(n) loop models on the square lattice as examples for these loop models. We give also some proposals for WZW SU(2) models.
Off-diagonal profiles of local densities (e.g. order parameter or energy density) are calculated at the bulk critical point, by conformal methods, for different types of boundary conditions (free, fixed and mixed). Such profiles, which are defined by a non-vanishing matrix element of the appropriate operator between the ground state and the corresponding lowest excited state of the strip Hamiltonian, enter into the expression of two-point correlation functions on a strip. They are of interest in the finite-size scaling study of bulk and surface critical behaviour since they allow the elimination of regular contributions. The conformal profiles, which are obtained through a conformal transformation of the correlation functions from the half-plane to the strip, are in agreement with the results of a direct calculation, for the energy density of the two-dimensional Ising model.

We discuss the effect of a conformally coupled Higgs field on conformal gravity (CG) predictions for the rotation curves of galaxies. The Mannheim-Kazanas (MK) metric is a valid vacuum solution of CGs 4-th order Poisson equation only if the Higgs fie ld has a particular radial profile, S(r)=S_0 a/(r+a), decreasing from S_0 at r=0 with radial scale length a. Since particle rest masses scale with S(r)/S_0, their world lines do not follow time-like geodesics of the MK metric g_ab, as previously assumed, but rather those of the Higgs-frame MK metric Omega^2 g_ab, with the conformal factor Omega(r)=S(r)/S_0. We show that the required stretching of the MK metric exactly cancels the linear potential that has been invoked to fit galaxy rotation curves without dark matter. We also formulate, for spherical structures with a Higgs halo S(r), the CG equations that must be solved for viable astrophysical tests of CG using galaxy and cluster dynamics and lensing.
