A discrete conformality for hyperbolic polyhedral surfaces is introduced in this paper. This discrete conformality is shown to be computable. It is proved that each hyperbolic polyhedral metric on a closed surface is discrete conformal to a unique hy
perbolic polyhedral metric with a given discrete curvature satisfying Gauss-Bonnet formula. Furthermore, the hyperbolic polyhedral metric with given curvature can be obtained using a discrete Yamabe flow with surgery. In particular, each hyperbolic polyhedral metric on a closed surface with negative Euler characteristic is discrete conformal to a unique hyperbolic metric.
In this chapter, we survey the algebraic aspects of quantum Teichmuller space, generalized Kashaev algebra and a natural relationship between the two algebras.
The discrete Laplace operator on a triangulated polyhedral surface is related to geometric properties of the surface. This paper studies extremum problems for eigenvalues of the discrete Laplace operators. Among all triangles, an equilateral triangle
has the maximal first positive eigenvalue. Among all cyclic quadrilateral, a square has the maximal first positive eigenvalue. Among all cyclic $n$-gons, a regular one has the minimal value of the sum of all nontrivial eigenvalues and the minimal value of the product of all nontrivial eigenvalues.
Formulas about the side lengths, diagonal lengths or radius of the circumcircle of a cyclic polygon in Euclidean geometry, hyperbolic geometry or spherical geometry can be unified.
We calculate the Jacobian matrix of the dihedral angles of a generalized hyperbolic tetrahedron as functions of edge lengths and find the complete set of symmetries of this matrix.
A family of coordinates $psi_h$ for the Teichmuller space of a compact surface with boundary was introduced in cite{l2}. In the work cite{m1}, Mondello showed that the coordinate $psi_0$ can be used to produce a natural cell decomposition of the Teic
hmuller space invariant under the action of the mapping class group. In this paper, we show that the similar result also works for all other coordinate $psi_h$ for any $h geq 0$.
This paper studies the combinatorial Yamabe flow on hyperbolic surfaces with boundary. It is proved by applying a variational principle that the length of boundary components is uniquely determined by the combinatorial conformal factor. The combinato
rial Yamabe flow is a gradient flow of a concave function. The long time behavior of the flow and the geometric meaning is investigated.
An almost Fuchsian 3-manifold is a quasi-Fuchsian manifold which contains an incompressible closed minimal surface with principal curvatures in the range of $(-1,1)$. Such a 3-manifold $M$ admits a foliation of parallel surfaces, whose locus in Teich
m{u}ller space is represented as a path $gamma$, we show that $gamma$ joins the conformal structures of the two components of the conformal boundary of $M$. Moreover, we obtain an upper bound for the Teichm{u}ller distance between any two points on $gamma$, in particular, the Teichm{u}ller distance between the two components of the conformal boundary of $M$, in terms of the principal curvatures of the minimal surface in $M$. We also establish a new potential for the Weil-Petersson metric on Teichm{u}ller space.
Kashaev algebra associated to a surface is a noncommutative deformation of the algebra of rational functions of Kashaev coordinates. For two arbitrary complex numbers, there is a generalized Kashaev algebra. The relationship between the shear coordin
ates and Kashaev coordinates induces a natural relationship between the quantum Teichmuller space and the generalized Kashaev algebra.
