Oriented to the point-to-multipoint free space optical communication (FSO) scenarios, this paper analyzes the micro-mirror array and phased array-type optical intelligent reflecting surface (OIRS) in terms of control mode, power efficiency, and beam splitting. We build the physical models of the two types of OIRSs. Based on the models, the closed form solution of OIRSs output power density distribution and power efficiency, along with their control algorithms have been derived. Then we propose the algorithms of beam splitting and multi-beam power allocation for two types of OIRSs. The channel fading in FSO system and the comparison of two types of OIRSs in actual systems are discussed according to the analytical results. Experiments and simulations are both presented to verify the feasibility of models and algorithms.

The task of large-scale retrieval-based image localization is to estimate the geographical location of a query image by recognizing its nearest reference images from a city-scale dataset. However, the general public benchmarks only provide noisy GPS labels associated with the training images, which act as weak supervisions for learning image-to-image similarities. Such label noise prevents deep neural networks from learning discriminative features for accurate localization. To tackle this challenge, we propose to self-supervise image-to-region similarities in order to fully explore the potential of difficult positive images alongside their sub-regions. The estimated image-to-region similarities can serve as extra training supervision for improving the network in generations, which could in turn gradually refine the fine-grained similarities to achieve optimal performance. Our proposed self-enhanced image-to-region similarity labels effectively deal with the training bottleneck in the state-of-the-art pipelines without any additional parameters or manual annotations in both training and inference. Our method outperforms state-of-the-arts on the standard localization benchmarks by noticeable margins and shows excellent generalization capability on multiple image retrieval datasets.
It is difficult for free space optical communication to be applied in mobile communication due to the obstruction of obstacles in the environment, which is expected to be solved by reconfigurable intelligent surface technology. The reconfigurable int elligent surface is a new type of digital coding meta-materials, which can reflect, compute and program electromagnetic and optical waves in real time. We purpose a controllable multi-branch wireless optical communication system based on the optical reconfigurable intelligent surface technology. By setting up multiple optical reconfigurable intelligent surface in the environment, multiple artificial channels are built to improve system performance and to reduce the outage probability. Three factors affecting channel coefficients are investigated in this paper, which are beam jitter, jitter of the reconfigurable intelligent surface and the probability of obstruction. Based on the model, we derive the closed-form probability density function of channel coefficients, the asymptotic systems average bit error rate and outage probability for systems with single and multiple branches. It is revealed that the probability density function contains an impulse function, which causes irreducible error rate and outage probability floors. Numerical results indicate that compared with free-space optical communication systems with single direct path, the performance of the multi-branch system is improved and the outage probability is reduced.
In previous single-pixel imaging systems, the light source was generally idle with respect to time. Here, we propose a novel image fusion and visible watermarking scheme based on Fourier single-pixel imaging (FSPI) with a multiplexed time-varying (TV ) signal, which is generated by the watermark pattern hidden in the light source. We call this scheme as TV-FSPI. With TV-FSPI, we can realize high-quality visible image watermarking, encrypted image watermarking and full-color visible image watermarking. We also discuss the extension to invisible watermarking based on TV-FSPI. Furthermore, we dont have to recode illumination patterns, because TV-FSPI can be extended to existing mainstream illumination patterns, such as random illumination mode and Hadamard illumination mode. Thus TV-FSPI has the potential to be used in single-pixel broadcasting system and multi-spectral single-pixel imaging system.
Two-photon interference of multimode two-photon pairs produced by an optical parametric oscillator has been observed for the first time with an unbalanced interferometer. The time correlation between the multimode two photons has a multi-peaked struc ture. This property of the multimode two-photon state induces two-photon interference depending on delay time. The nonclassicality of this interference is also discussed.
An oscillatory correlation function has been observed by the coincidence counting of multimode two-photon pairs produced with a degenerate optical parametric oscillator far below threshold. The coherent superposition of the multimode two-photon pairs provides the oscillation in the intensity correlation function. The experimental data are well fitted to a theoretical curve.
