Directional point-contact Andreev-reflection (PCAR) measurements in Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2 single crystals (Tc=24.5 K) indicate the presence of two superconducting gaps with no line nodes on the Fermi surface. The PCAR spectra also feature additional structures related to the electron-boson interaction, from which the characteristic boson energy Omega_b(T) is obtained, very similar to the spin-resonance energy observed in neutron scattering experiments. Both the gaps and the additional structures can be reproduced within a three-band s+- Eliashberg model by using an electron-boson spectral function peaked at Omega_0 = 12 meV ~ Omega_b(0).

We report on a study of the superconducting order parameter in Fe(Te$_{1-x}$Se$_{x}$) thin films (with different Se contents: x=0.3, 0.4, 0.5) by means of point-contact Andreev-reflection spectroscopy (PCARS). The PCARS spectra show reproducible evidence of multiple structures, namely two clear conductance maxima associated to a superconducting gap of amplitude $Delta_E simeq 2.75 k_B T_c$ and additional shoulders at higher energy that, as we show, are the signature of the strong interaction of charge carriers with a bosonic mode whose characteristic energy coincides with the spin-resonance energy. The details of some PCARS spectra at low energy suggest the presence of a smaller and not easily discernible gap of amplitude $Delta_H simeq 1.75 k_B T_c$. The existence of this gap and its amplitude are confirmed by PCARS measurements in Fe(Te$_{1-x}$Se$_{x}$) single crystals. The values of the two gaps $Delta_E$ and $Delta_H$, once plotted as a function of the local critical temperature $T_c^A$, turn out to be in perfect agreement with the results obtained by various experimental techniques reported in literature.
This paper has been withdrawn by the author due to some experimental mistakes. In this paper, we reported that C66, C44 and (C11-C12)/2 show remarkable softening toward the structural transition temperature TS. The data reported in this paper were acquired using the ultrasonic frequency lower than 25 MHz. Recently, we performed high-frequency measurements for the same system. We found that the anomaly of C44 and (C11-C12)/2 tend to disappear rapidly with increasing the frequency. On the other hand, C66 anomaly is still there at high frequencies. Therefore, we concluded that the observed anomalies in C44 and (C11-C12)/2 are not true. They would be ascribed to certain influence by the large softening of C66. So, we have checked our data through careful measurements by using ultrasonic frequency higher than 60 MHz, so far. Then, it has been found that C66 shows still nice softening toward TS, but that its temperature dependence is slightly different from the results of this paper. We have accumulated reliable data now. They will be reported in near future.
We investigated the elastic properties of the iron-based superconductor Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2 with eight Co concentrations. The elastic constant C66 shows large elastic softening associated with the structural phase transition. The C66 was analyzed base on localized and itinerant pictures of Fe-3d electrons, which shows the strong electron-lattice coupling and a possible mass enhancement in this system. The results resemble those of unconventional superconductors, where the properties of the system are governed by the quantum fluctuations associated with the zero-temperature critical point of the long-range order; namely, the quantum critical point (QCP). In this system, the inverse of C66 behaves just like the magnetic susceptibility in the magnetic QCP systems. While the QCPs of these existing superconductors are all ascribed to antiferromagnetism, our systematic studies on the canonical iron-based superconductor Ba(Fe1-xCox)2As2 have revealed that there is a signature of structural quantum criticality in this material, which is so far without precedent. The elastic constant anomaly is suggested to concern with the emergence of superconductivity. These results highlight the strong electron-lattice coupling and effect of the band in this system, thus challenging the prevailing scenarios that focus on the role of the iron 3d-orbitals.
Point-contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy (PCAR) has proven to be one of the most powerful tools in the investigation of superconductors, where it provides information on the order parameter (OP), a fundamental property of the superconducting state. In the past 20 years, successive improvements of the models used to analyze the spectra have continuously extended its capabilities, making it suited to study new superconductors with exotic properties such as anisotropic, nodal and multiple OPs. In Fe-based superconductors, the complex compound- and doping-dependent Fermi surface and the predicted sensitivity of the OP to fine structural details present unprecedent challenges for this technique. Nevertheless, we show here that PCAR measurements in Fe-based superconductors carried out so far have already greatly contributed to our understanding of these materials, despite some apparent inconsistencies that can be overcome if a homogeneous treatment of the data is used. We also demonstrate that, if properly extended theoretical models for Andreev reflection are used, directional PCAR spectroscopy can provide detailed information not only on the amplitude and symmetry of the OPs, but also on the nature of the pairing boson, and even give some hints about the shape of the Fermi surface.
We report a systematic investigation on c-axis point-contact Andreev reflection (PCAR) in BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$ superconducting single crystals from underdoped to overdoped regions (0.075 $leq xleq 0.15$). At optimal doping ($x=0.1$) the PCAR spectrum feature the structures of two superconducting gap and electron-boson coupling mode. In the $spm$ scenario, quantitative analysis using a generalized Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) formalism with two gaps: one isotropic and another angle dependent, suggest a nodeless state in strong-coupling limit with gap minima on the Fermi surfaces. Upon crossing above the optimal doping ($x > 0.1$), the PCAR spectrum show an in-gap sharp narrow peak at low bias, in contrast to the case of underdoped samples ($x < 0.1$), signaling the onset of deepened gap minima or nodes in the superconducting gap. This result provides evidence of the modulation of the gap amplitude with doping concentration, consistent with the calculations for the orbital dependent pair interaction mediated by the antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations.
