The study of fracture in Kadmous and Safita showed several fracturing directions, originally related to the tectonic structure of the studied zone, especially faults. A group of dominant principal fractures, with a direction of NW-SE, a group of less importance with direction of NE-SW, and a secondary group of N-S direction, have been determined.

Research summary
Critical review

The study of volcanic dykes geometry in the southern Syrian coastal range shows that some of them are related to a tensional tectonic event, Albian dykes, and others are related to a strike-slip stress field like Pliocene dykes. Orientation of dykes is average between E-W to N-S with maximal direction of N 130- N 145. Drawing of strike-slip stress field depending upon dykes orientation shows important deviation in σ1 strike from NW-SE to E-W in the vicinity of Levant fault during Pliocene time (4.4-5.4My)
Study of 30 sediment samples at the laboratory and different Samples in situ (Field observation) reveals that related to Cenomanian Stage in Tartus and Safita Area. The results of this study reveals there are many, secondary and local Faults, which a re related to the east Mediterranean mean Fault, which contributed in the exist joints in carbonate thin deposit Rocks, which help in quarrying the rocks. The study reveals that the cenomanian strata are represented by Deeping / shallowing-up Cycles and an interesting darkish mud sedimentary layer in Slenfa formation, and there are some other interesting sedimentary limestone and marly limestone's deposits, which contain fossils and some flint nodules and nodular limstone. The study of some of these flint nodules indicated the existent of rudistic shell within it, where as the other contain some benthic Foraminifera as Orbitolina, which reveals an Sedimentation in shallow marine environment. The study of fossils, micro Foraminifera & macro, in rock samples have prove that sedimentary rocks in the study area are related to the Cenemanian stage. The macro fossils like (Gastropods, Bivalves & Ammonites ), also we determined a layer of Oyster in the area within Hanafiah formation and Rudista layer. Result revealed that sediment deposit related to Carbonate-Platform.
The aim of current research was to study some diagnostic characteristics /morphological, physical, chemical/and the origin structureofforest soils in Syrian coastal region. In addition to estimation of microbial activity of some microbial groups/ba cteria, fungi, actinomycete/ to establish a general view of these soils. Two complete sections were prepared in the considered soils /Safita-Tartous/ andsamples were taken after the soils sections description for diagnostic characterization. The results showed that the soil pH was between neutral and tiny basic and because of the richnessof the studied soil by calcium carbonate. However, the highest percentage of organic matter in all sections were concentrated in the surface horizon and was decreasing with depth. Our results also showed that the microbial activity was positively correlated with the content of the organic matter and negatively with the depth, so the total number of bacteria and fungi was decreasing in the under surface horizon. A muddymetamorphosedhorizon (Bm) was formed in the two sections.
Joints study in Skhaba region shows the existence two joint directions, principal dominant NW-SE Joints from extension origin upper Cretaceous age, unrelated and older than faults in studied area statistically, the presence of Calcareous filling in the joints that is supported the extension origin in the first phase. Secondary NE-SW joints from Miocen-Pliocen in age, and from extension origin ,related to the formation of faults, most of them contain thin iron crust in secondary phase.
This research define and study geomorphological properties of the Karstic spring nameled “Al Gamka” , characterized one of seasonal springs that flux up as “fontain” . For this issue, we achieved a detailed geological and geomorphological Study in the region of spring, in addition to the field measures to draw and define the main karstic paths and its tributaries, which recharge this spring by groundwater coming from north-east side. To show the changes happened to the spring path, and to control water level variations inside this karstic paths and tributaries and the relation with groundwater influx periods through this “fountain”. This study showed reasons that led to groundwater influx through this spring with high discharge, and the relation between this spring discharge with the amount of precipitation on the recharge area. Finally, I presented detailed explanation about karstic extension, Which recharge this spring, in addition to the geomorphological development of the spring region through previous times.
