Introduction : The respiratory functions have wide effects on the orthodontic diagnosis and the treatment planning, besides their effects on the stability of the treatment results. So it is important to have a better and more deeply analysis of the upper airway morphology, and to evaluate its relationship with the cephalometric features that determine the intermaxillary relationship . Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship of the size and areas of the upper airways in adults to the sagittal intermaxillary relationship using sagittal and axial slices of three dimensional computed tomography. Materials and methods: The Sample's consisted of 29 adults (12males,17 females) selected from patients who were ordinary undergoing 3DCT for non-orthodontic nor otolaryngology purposes and didn’t have orthodontic treatment . the anteroposterior positions of both the maxilla and the mandible were evaluated with the ANB angle , AF-BF distance and Wits appraisal .Then Pearson's Correlation was calculated to investigate the possible relationship between the upper airway measurements and the Cephalometric measurements determining intermaxillary relationship at the sagittal plane. Results: We found statistically significant correlation between the upper airway measurements and the cephalometric measurements determining sagittal intermaxillary relationship. The depth and area of NA showed negative correlation with ANB ,WITS,AF-BF (p<0.05). We noticed that females have statistically significant smaller oropharyngeal depth than males. Conclusions: There is a statistically significant correlation between the upper airway measurements and the cephalometric measurements determining the sagittal intermaxillary relationship in adults with no clinical symptoms of the upper airway disorders..

This study aimed to investigate the relationship of the size and areas of the upper airway with the Facial growth type in adults ,and to investigate the differences in upper airway measurements between males and females using sagittal and axial sl ices of three dimensional computed tomography.
In this study, 24 patients with posterior skeletal cross-bite were treated at Orthodontics Department-Faculty of Dentistry in Hama University. Hyrax expansion device was applied in all patients and the results were assessed after active expansion period. Cone beam computed tomography radiograph were taken at the assessment times. Results showed that the midpalatal suture width has increased significantly at all measured areas. The results revealed that significant tipping in the canines , premolars and molars was recorded in this study.
Impacted mandibular third molar area has been a topic of interest for a long time, and one of the most investigated parameters for two reasons:1- the lower third molars are the second most frequently impacted teeth[1,2 ]. 2- the lack of space is cons idered to be the major cause of this.so the radiographic diagnosis for this area is an important issue for orthodontists because of it's important role in mandibular third molar eruption wich play an impact on lower arch crowding and stability of orthodontic treatment. Objective:to study the relationship between impacted mandibular third molar area morphology and mandibular length in adults with skeletal malocclusion in the sagittal plane and to investigate the effect of sex on this area in these subjects by using cephalometric radiographic.
Cephalometric evaluation of the upper air ways to obtain normative measurements of the upper airway in the Syrians healthy adults. Subjects included 70 healthy patients, (age range, 22-24 years) with permanent occlusion on all teeth, class 1 on fi rst molars and canines, normal overjet(2-3 mm) and normal overbite(not more than 1\3 buccal surface of the lower central incisor), no spaces or crowding teeth,Syrian nationality,no prior orthodontic treatment and with no functional disorders. Thirteen cephalometric airway measurements:the width of nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx, vertical pharyngeal length, thickness and length of the soft palate ,relative position of the hyoid bone, and length and hieght of the tongue, were obtained.
The aim of this study was to assess and analysis the morphology of the nose and examine their relationships with the facial growth types according to Jarabak and their differences between the sexes This study is performed with using radiographic c ephalometric for 31 female and 55 male aged between 18-25 years and by using analysis of variance Kruskall-Wallis one-way ANOVA and Mann-Whitney U-tests of statistical test. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between each of the angle Cranial base with the nasal bone (Nasal bone / SN), and level of the nose with cranial base (NSL / NL), and the facial pattern for all the simple. It was noted the existence of a significant statistical relationship between the length of the nasal cartilage (Cart-nose), and the total length of the nose , and the angle between the nasal bone with cranial base and facial pattern .And the results showed at females the presence statistically significant relationship between each of the( Nasal bone / SN), and (NSL / NL), and facial pattern.
