The manpower scheduling problem is a critical research field in the resource management area. Based on the existing studies on scheduling problem solutions, this paper transforms the manpower scheduling problem into a combinational optimization problem under multi-constraint conditions from a new perspective. It also uses logical paradigms to build a mathematical model for problem solution and an improved multi-dimensional evolution algorithm for solving the model. Moreover, the constraints discussed in this paper basically cover all the requirements of human resource coordination in modern society and are supported by our experiment results. In the discussion part, we compare our model with other heuristic algorithms or linear programming methods and prove that the model proposed in this paper makes a 25.7% increase in efficiency and a 17% increase in accuracy at most. In addition, to the numerical solution of the manpower scheduling problem, this paper also studies the algorithm for scheduling task list generation and the method of displaying scheduling results. As a result, we not only provide various modifications for the basic algorithm to solve different condition problems but also propose a new algorithm that increases at least 28.91% in time efficiency by comparing with different baseline models.
The manpower scheduling problem is a kind of critical combinational optimization problem. Researching solutions to scheduling problems can improve the efficiency of companies, hospitals, and other work units. This paper proposes a new model combined with deep learning to solve the multi-shift manpower scheduling problem based on the existing research. This model first solves the objective functions optimized value according to the current constraints to find the plan of employee arrangement initially. It will then use the scheduling table generation algorithm to obtain the scheduling result in a short time. Moreover, the most prominent feature we propose is that we will use the neural network training method based on the time series to solve long-term and long-period scheduling tasks and obtain manpower arrangement. The selection criteria of the neural network and the training process are also described in this paper. We demonstrate that our model can make a precise forecast based on the improvement of neural networks. This paper also discusses the challenges in the neural network training process and obtains enlightening results after getting the arrangement plan. Our research shows that neural networks and deep learning strategies have the potential to solve similar problems effectively.

Message passing algorithms have proved surprisingly successful in solving hard constraint satisfaction problems on sparse random graphs. In such applications, variables are fixed sequentially to satisfy the constraints. Message passing is run after each step. Its outcome provides an heuristic to make choices at next step. This approach has been referred to as `decimation, with reference to analogous procedures in statistical physics. The behavior of decimation procedures is poorly understood. Here we consider a simple randomized decimation algorithm based on belief propagation (BP), and analyze its behavior on random k-satisfiability formulae. In particular, we propose a tree model for its analysis and we conjecture that it provides asymptotically exact predictions in the limit of large instances. This conjecture is confirmed by numerical simulations.
The subject of Job Scheduling Optimisation (JSO) deals with the scheduling of jobs in an organization, so that the single working steps are optimally organized regarding the postulated targets. In this paper a use case is provided which deals with a sub-aspect of JSO, the Job Shop Scheduling Problem (JSSP or JSP). As many optimization problems JSSP is NP-complete, which means the complexity increases with every node in the system exponentially. The goal of the use case is to show how to create an optimized duty rooster for certain workpieces in a flexible organized machinery, combined with an Autonomous Ground Vehicle (AGV), using Constraint Programming (CP) and Quantum Computing (QC) alternatively. The results of a classical solution based on CP and on a Quantum Annealing model are presented and discussed. All presented results have been elaborated in the research project PlanQK.
Automatic industrial scheduling, aiming at optimizing the sequence of jobs over limited resources, is widely needed in manufacturing industries. However, existing scheduling systems heavily rely on heuristic algorithms, which either generate ineffective solutions or compute inefficiently when job scale increases. Thus, it is of great importance to develop new large-scale algorithms that are not only efficient and effective, but also capable of satisfying complex constraints in practice. In this paper, we propose a Bilevel Deep reinforcement learning Scheduler, textit{BDS}, in which the higher level is responsible for exploring an initial global sequence, whereas the lower level is aiming at exploitation for partial sequence refinements, and the two levels are connected by a sliding-window sampling mechanism. In the implementation, a Double Deep Q Network (DDQN) is used in the upper level and Graph Pointer Network (GPN) lies within the lower level. After the theoretical guarantee for the convergence of BDS, we evaluate it in an industrial automatic warehouse scenario, with job number up to $5000$ in each production line. It is shown that our proposed BDS significantly outperforms two most used heuristics, three strong deep networks, and another bilevel baseline approach. In particular, compared with the most used greedy-based heuristic algorithm in real world which takes nearly an hour, our BDS can decrease the makespan by 27.5%, 28.6% and 22.1% for 3 largest datasets respectively, with computational time less than 200 seconds.
