Concentrations of eight chlorinated pesticides: namely, gamma HCH, Heptachlor, heptachlore epoxide, aldrin, dieldrin, 4,4-DDE, 4,4-DDD, and 4,4-DDT were studied in some mollusks species Monodonta turbinata, Brachidontes variabilis , Patella caerule a, Trochus erithraeus, Strombus persicus and in sediments taken from five different locations: Assin estuary, Jobar estuary, Banias Thermal Electricity Station, Albasia, and Mirkiya River estuary. Sampling was performed at six different times during the period 2006-2007. Results indicated that Assin estuary contained the highest level of contamination followed by Jobar estuary and Mirkiya estuary where sampled mollusks species contained various concentrations of all of the studied pesticides. At Banias Thermal Electricity Station samples showed contamination with heptachlore and heptachlore epoxide only, whereas the concentration of pesticides at Albasia location, much lower than the other locations.
Three sampling stations were chosen along the lower reach section of AlSanawbarriver (Lattakia-Syria). In these stations, the freshwater molluscs were studied, environmentally and taxonomically, during the period 4/3/2012 – 4/8/2013. In this resea rch, I present the results of the environmental study on the Gastropod Valvatasaulcyiwhich was more abundant in the 3rd station; 5km of the estuary. Ten mollusc species were identified; 8 belonging to Gastropoda (4 of Prosobranchia & 4 of Pulmonata) and 2 belonging to Bivalvia. The chemical and physical properties of the water in the 3rd station were studied and the work was concentrated on Valvatasaulcyipopulation and structure, where samples were collected bimonthly during Spring, summer & autumn and monthly during winter. It was shown that reproduction of such species is continuous along the year, with 2 reproduction beaks: the more important one is spring beak and the less important one is autumn beak. The population structure of the species was studied: shell dimensions were measured and the relationships were studied between height growth and breadth growth of the shell, and between the breadth growth and dry weight of the individual ….
In This study it has been uses a network for monitoring the pollution with organochlorine pesticides in There marine stations at Lattakia coast: Fishing port, AfamiaCoast, High Institute Of Marine Research Coastusing Cages contained species of musse lswitch are filter feeders Brachidontes varibilis. Samples had been collected from Lattakia coast. The results showed a great efficiency of the made network for monitoring the organic pollution in marine environment. It has been recorded a concentration of DDTs is accumulated lower than 2ng/g , Endosulfane and HCB is lower than 1 ng/g too. The results showed that the HCH compounds is dominant in all stations.organochlorine pesticides is accumulated mostly in the biota of station Fishing port, Afamia Coast
