It is difficult to choose between the rapid maxillary expansion
(RME) and surgically assisted RME (SARME), we aimed to study the
relationship between the obliteration index in midpalatal suture
and cervical vertebral maturation staging (CVMs).
To determine the stability of transverse skeletal
changes following Rapid maxillary expansion (RME) assisted by
laser during 6 month period.
Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 23 adults
patients with contracting in maxilla and posterior unilateral or
bilateral crossbite.
In this study, 24 patients with posterior skeletal cross-bite were
treated at Orthodontics Department-Faculty of Dentistry in Hama
University. Hyrax expansion device was applied in all patients and
the results were assessed after active expansion
period. Cone
beam computed tomography radiograph were taken at the
assessment times.
Results showed that the midpalatal suture width has increased
significantly at all measured areas. The results revealed that
significant tipping in the canines , premolars and molars was
recorded in this study.
