This study aims to treat all cases of choriocarcinoma using the
national chemotherapy courses, and analyzing the results of treatment to
assure that we are confirmed by the course (after proving its affectivity) and
to avoid missed and unorganized treatments, which worsen the prognosis.
The study included 985 cases of Hydatidiform mole. 262 of which needed
chemotherapy due to malignant transformation or invasive mole. i.e.24.6%.
It was noticed that malignant transformation was associated clearly with group of
factors like advance
d age, low socioeconomi states, multiparity, increase of
uterine size more than gestational age, the size of the uterus, the presence of
ovarian Lutein cysts, recurrent vesicular mole, evacuation, of Hydatidiform mole
without suction, operetve interference especially laparotomy, grade of
differentiation of vescular mole.
it was also found that there is increase of malignant tranformation in thos women
who used medical barrier contraceptive methods more than those who used
hôrmonal contrceptive methods Knowing these risk factors helps in early
diagnosis and treatment of those high risk. cases and decreases the incidence of
malignant transformation.
Third trimester vaginal bleeding is still one of the most critical problems facing
both the pregnant woman and the doctor , and placenta previa is considered to
be the most common cause for this problem.
Our study involved the cases of patients wi
th placenta previa whom they
where admitted to Damascus University Maternity Hospital within five years
(1992-1997). There were 552 cases of placenta previa among 74959 deliveries
(about 7.36 per thousand ).
These cases were undertaken an analytic study.
