The current study is based on the assumption that there is a natural relationship
between handicrafts and tourism, and that there is mutual benefit in the creation and
promotion of a private to support the other. This study addresses the current re
alities and
challenges faced the handicraft sector and traditional markets in Damascus, Aleppo and
Deir Ezzor, to provide a strategy for development and revitalization of this sector and to
meet the needs of the cultural tourism better.
