The e_LiBANS project aims at creating accelerator based compact neutron facilities for diverse interdisciplinary applications. After the successful setting up and characterization of a thermal neutron source based on a medical electron LINAC, a similar assembly for epithermal neutrons has been developed. The project is based on an Elekta 18 MV LINAC coupled with a photoconverter-moderator system which deploys the ({gamma},n) photonuclear reaction to convert a bremsstrahlung photon beam into a neutron field. This communication describes the development of novel diagnostics to qualify the thermal and epithermal neutron fields that have been produced. In particular, a proof of concept for the use of silicon carbide photodiodes as a thermal neutron rate detector is presented.
In the last two decades we have assisted to a rush towards finding a He3-replacing technology capable of detecting neutrons emitted from fissile isotopes. The demand stems from applications like nuclear war-head screening or preventing illicit traffi
The AMANDE facility at IRSN-Cadarache produces mono-energetic neutron fields from 2 keV to 20 MeV with metrological quality. To be considered as a standard facility, characteristics of neutron field i.e fluence distribution must be well known by a de
We have developed a neutron imaging sensor based on an INTPIX4-SOI pixelated silicon device. Neutron irradiation tests are performed at several neutron facilities to investigate sensors responses for neutrons. Detection efficiency is measured to be a
The spectrum of laser-plasma generated X-rays is very important, it characterizes electron dynamics in plasma and is basic for applications. However, the accuracies and efficiencies of existing methods to diagnose the spectrum of laser-plasma based X
The newest neutron scattering applications are highly intensity-limited techniques that demand reducing the neutron losses between source and detectors. In addition, the nuclear industry demands more accurate data and procedures for the design and op
