The physical meaning of the EPR--chameleon experiment proposed in AcRe00b,AcRe01a, in which the EPR correlations are reproduced by local, independent, deterministic choices is re-examined. In addition we extend the mathematical model of AcRe00b,AcRe01a by showing that the dynamics considered there is effectively the reduced dynamics of a fully reversible evolution. We also propose a new protocol, more directly corresponding to real experiments, in which the local computers only send back to the central one the results of the evaluation of $pm1$--valued functions. The program to run the experiment is available from the WEB-page: http://volterra.mat.uniroma2.it.

We show that paradoxical consequences of violations of Bells inequality are induced by the use of an unsuitable probabilistic description for the EPR-Bohm-Bell experiment. The conventional description (due to Bell) is based on a combination of statis tical data collected for different settings of polarization beam splitters (PBSs). In fact, such data consists of some conditional probabilities which only partially define a probability space. Ignoring this conditioning leads to apparent contradictions in the classical probabilistic model (due to Kolmogorov). We show how to make a completely consistent probabilistic model by taking into account the probabilities of selecting the settings of the PBSs. Our model matches both the experimental data and is consistent with classical probability theory.

The appearance of the spin-1/2 and spin-1 representations in the Frieden-Soffer extreme physical information (EPI) statistical approach to the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm (EPR-Bohm) experiment is shown. In order to obtain the EPR-Bohm result, in add ition to the observed structural and variational information principles of the EPI method, the condition of the regularity of the probability distribution is used. The observed structural information principle is obtained from the analyticity of the logarithm of the likelihood function. It is suggested that, due to the self-consistent analysis of both information principles, quantum mechanics is covered by the statistical information theory. The estimation of the angle between the analyzers in the EPR-Bohm experiment is discussed.

A general consensus now is that there are two physically inequivalent complete decompositions of the nucleon spin, i.e. the decomposition of the canonical type and that of mechanical type. The well-known Jaffe-Manohar decomposition is of the former t ype. Unfortunately, there is a wide-spread misbelief that this decomposition matches the partonic picture, which states that motion of quarks in the nucleon is approximately free. In the present monograph, we reveal that this understanding is not necessarily correct and that the Jaffe-Manohar decomposition is not such a decomposition, which natively reflects the intrinsic (or static) orbital angular momentum structure of the nucleon.

A single photon incident on a beam splitter produces an entangled field state, and in principle could be used to violate a Bell-inequality, but such an experiment (without post-selection) is beyond the reach of current experiments. Here we consider t he somewhat simpler task of demonstrating EPR-steering with a single photon (also without post-selection). That is, of demonstrating that Alices choice of measurement on her half of a single photon can affect the other half of the photon in Bobs lab, in a sense rigorously defined by us and Doherty [Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 140402 (2007)]. Previous work by Lvovsky and co-workers [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 047903 (2004)] has addressed this phenomenon (which they called remote preparation) experimentally using homodyne measurements on a single photon. Here we show that, unfortunately, their experimental parameters do not meet the bounds necessary for a rigorous demonstration of EPR-steering with a single photon. However, we also show that modest improvements in the experimental parameters, and the addition of photon counting to the arsenal of Alices measurements, would be sufficient to allow such a demonstration.

The physical meaning of bare and dressed scattering matrix singularities has been investigated. Special attention has been attributed to the role of well known invariance of scattering matrix with respect to the field transformation of the effective Lagrangian. Examples of evaluating bare and dressed quantities in various models are given.
