Generalization is an important feature of neural network, and there have been many studies on it. Recently, with the development of quantum compu-ting, it brings new opportunities. In this paper, we studied a class of quantum neural network constructed by quantum gate. In this model, we mapped the feature data to a quantum state in Hilbert space firstly, and then implement unitary evolution on it, in the end, we can get the classification result by im-plement measurement on the quantum state. Since all the operations in quan-tum neural networks are unitary, the parameters constitute a hypersphere of Hilbert space. Compared with traditional neural network, the parameter space is flatter. Therefore, it is not easy to fall into local optimum, which means the quantum neural networks have better generalization. In order to validate our proposal, we evaluated our model on three public datasets, the results demonstrated that our model has better generalization than the classical neu-ral network with the same structure.

In the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era, one of the key questions is how to deal with the high noise level existing in physical quantum bits (qubits). Quantum error correction is promising but requires an extensive number (e.g., over 1,000 ) of physical qubits to create one perfect qubit, exceeding the capacity of the existing quantum computers. This paper aims to tackle the noise issue from another angle: instead of creating perfect qubits for general quantum algorithms, we investigate the potential to mitigate the noise issue for dedicate algorithms. Specifically, this paper targets quantum neural network (QNN), and proposes to learn the errors in the training phase, so that the identified QNN model can be resilient to noise. As a result, the implementation of QNN needs no or a small number of additional physical qubits, which is more realistic for the near-term quantum computers. To achieve this goal, an application-specific compiler is essential: on the one hand, the error cannot be learned if the mapping from logical qubits to physical qubits exists randomness; on the other hand, the compiler needs to be efficient so that the lengthy training procedure can be completed in a reasonable time. In this paper, we utilize the recent QNN framework, QuantumFlow, as a case study. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can optimize QNN models for different errors in qubits, achieving up to 28% accuracy improvement compared with the model obtained by the error-agnostic training.
Quantum neural networks (QNNs) have generated excitement around the possibility of efficiently analyzing quantum data. But this excitement has been tempered by the existence of exponentially vanishing gradients, known as barren plateau landscapes, fo r many QNN architectures. Recently, Quantum Convolutional Neural Networks (QCNNs) have been proposed, involving a sequence of convolutional and pooling layers that reduce the number of qubits while preserving information about relevant data features. In this work we rigorously analyze the gradient scaling for the parameters in the QCNN architecture. We find that the variance of the gradient vanishes no faster than polynomially, implying that QCNNs do not exhibit barren plateaus. This provides an analytical guarantee for the trainability of randomly initialized QCNNs, which singles out QCNNs as being trainable unlike many other QNN architectures. To derive our results we introduce a novel graph-based method to analyze expectation values over Haar-distributed unitaries, which will likely be useful in other contexts. Finally, we perform numerical simulations to verify our analytical results.

We propose a novel paradigm of integration of Grovers algorithm in a machine learning framework: the inductive Grover oracular quantum neural network (IGO-QNN). The model defines a variational quantum circuit with hidden layers of parameterized quant um neurons densely connected via entangle synapses to encode a dynamic Grovers search oracle that can be trained from a set of database-hit training examples. This widens the range of problem applications of Grovers unstructured search algorithm to include the vast majority of problems lacking analytic descriptions of solution verifiers, allowing for quadratic speed-up in unstructured search for the set of search problems with relationships between input and output spaces that are tractably underivable deductively. This generalization of Grovers oracularization may prove particularly effective in deep reinforcement learning, computer vision, and, more generally, as a feature vector classifier at the top of an existing model.
Utilizing quantum computers to deploy artificial neural networks (ANNs) will bring the potential of significant advancements in both speed and scale. In this paper, we propose a kind of quantum spike neural networks (SNNs) as well as comprehensively evaluate and give a detailed mathematical proof for the quantum SNNs, including its successful probability, calculation accuracy, and algorithm complexity. The proof shows the quantum SNNs computational complexity that is log-polynomial in the data dimension. Furthermore, we provide a method to improve quantum SNNs minimum successful probability to nearly 100%. Finally, we present the good performance of quantum SNNs for solving pattern recognition from the real-world.

The neural network and quantum computing are both significant and appealing fields, with their interactive disciplines promising for large-scale computing tasks that are untackled by conventional computers. However, both developments are restricted b y the scope of the hardware development. Nevertheless, many neural network algorithms had been proposed before GPUs become powerful enough for running very deep models. Similarly, quantum algorithms can also be proposed as knowledge reserves before real quantum computers are easily accessible. Specifically, taking advantage of both the neural networks and quantum computation and designing quantum deep neural networks (QDNNs) for acceleration on Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) processors is also an important research problem. As one of the most widely used neural network architectures, convolutional neural network (CNN) remains to be accelerated by quantum mechanisms, with only a few attempts have been demonstrated. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid quantum-classical circuit, namely Quantum Fourier Convolutional Network (QFCN). Our model achieves exponential speed-up compared with classical CNN theoretically and improves over the existing best result of quantum CNN. We demonstrate the potential of this architecture by applying it to different deep learning tasks, including traffic prediction and image classification.
