We report a neutron spin-echo study of the critical dynamics in the $S=5/2$ antiferromagnets MnF$_2$ and Rb$_2$MnF$_4$ with three-dimensional (3D) and two-dimensional (2D) spin systems, respectively, in zero external field. Both compounds are Heisenberg antiferromagnets with a small uniaxial anisotropy resulting from dipolar spin-spin interactions, which leads to a crossover in the critical dynamics close to the Neel temperature, $T_N$. By taking advantage of the $mutext{eV}$ energy resolution of the spin-echo spectrometer, we have determined the dynamical critical exponents $z$ for both longitudinal and transverse fluctuations. In MnF$_2$, both the characteristic temperature for crossover from 3D Heisenberg to 3D Ising behavior and the exponents $z$ in both regimes are consistent with predictions from the dynamical scaling theory. The amplitude ratio of longitudinal and transverse fluctuations also agrees with predictions. In Rb$_2$MnF$_4$, the critical dynamics crosses over from the expected 2D Heisenberg behavior for $Tgg T_N$ to a scaling regime with exponent $z = 1.387(4)$, which has not been predicted by theory and may indicate the influence of long-range dipolar interactions.

By means of nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1, we follow the spin dynamics as a function of the applied magnetic field in two gapped one-dimensional quantum antiferromagnets: the anisotropic spin-chain system NiCl2-4SC(NH2)2 and the spin-ladd er system (C5H12N)2CuBr4. In both systems, spin excitations are confirmed to evolve from magnons in the gapped state to spinons in the gapples Tomonaga-Luttinger-liquid state. In between, 1/T1 exhibits a pronounced, continuous variation, which is shown to scale in accordance with quantum criticality. We extract the critical exponent for 1/T1, compare it to the theory, and show that this behavior is identical in both studied systems, thus demonstrating the universality of quantum critical behavior.

We report a muSR study of LiCrO2, which has a magnetic lattice made up of a stacking of triangular Heisenberg antiferromagnetic (Cr3+, S = 3/2) layers. A static magnetically ordered state is observed below the transition temperature T_N = 62 K, while the expected peak of the relaxation rate is slightly shifted downward by a few kelvins below T_N. We draw a comparison with the isostructural compound NaCrO2, where an exotic broad fluctuating regime has been observed [A. Olariu, P. Mendels, F. Bert, B. G. Ueland, P. Schiffer, R. F. Berger, and R. J. Cava, Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 167203 (2006)] and was suggested to originate from topological excitations of the triangular lattice. Replacing Na by Li strongly narrows the exotic fluctuating regime formerly observed in NaCrO2, which we attribute to a more pronounced inter-plane coupling in LiCrO2.
The low-temperature magnetic excitations of the two-dimensional spin-5/2 square-lattice Heisenberg antiferromagnet Rb2MnF4 have been probed using pulsed inelastic neutron scattering. In addition to dominant sharp peaks identified with one-magnon exci tations, a relatively weak continuum scattering is also observed at higher energies. This is attributed to neutron scattering by pairs of magnons and the observed intensities are consistent with predictions of spin wave theory.
The correlated spin dynamics and the temperature dependence of the correlation length $xi(T)$ in two-dimensional quantum ($S=1/2$) Heisenberg antiferromagnets (2DQHAF) on square lattice are discussed in the light of experimental results of proton spi n lattice relaxation in copper formiate tetradeuterate (CFTD). In this compound the exchange constant is much smaller than the one in recently studied 2DQHAF, such as La$_2$CuO$_4$ and Sr$_2$CuO$_2$Cl$_2$. Thus the spin dynamics can be probed in detail over a wider temperature range. The NMR relaxation rates turn out in excellent agreement with a theoretical mode-coupling calculation. The deduced temperature behavior of $xi(T)$ is in agreement with high-temperature expansions, quantum Monte Carlo simulations and the pure quantum self-consistent harmonic approximation. Contrary to the predictions of the theories based on the Non-Linear $sigma$ Model, no evidence of crossover between different quantum regimes is observed.
We report magnetization and neutron scattering measurements down to 60 mK on a new family of Fe based kagome antiferromagnets, in which a strong local spin anisotropy combined with a low exchange path network connectivity lead to domain walls interse cting the kagome planes through strings of free spins. These produce unfamiliar slow spin dynamics in the ordered phase, evolving from exchange-released spin-flips towards a cooperative behavior on decreasing the temperature, probably due to the onset of long-range dipolar interaction. A domain structure of independent magnetic grains is obtained that could be generic to other frustrated magnets.
