We present a novel procedure to solve the Schrodinger equation, which in optics is the paraxial wave equation, with an initial multisingular vortex Gaussian beam. This initial condition has a number of singularities in a plane transversal to propagation embedded in a Gaussian beam. We use the scattering modes, which are solutions of the paraxial wave equation that can be combined straightforwardly to express the initial condition and therefore permit to solve the problem. To construct the scattering modes one needs to obtain a particular set of polynomials, which play an analogous role than Laguerre polynomials for Laguerre-Gaussian modes. We demonstrate here the recurrence relations needed to determine these polynomials. To stress the utility and strength of the method we solve first the problem of an initial Gaussian beam with two positive singularities and a negative one embedded in. We show that the solution permits one to obtain analytical expressions. These can used to obtain closed expressions for meaningful quantities, like the distance at which the positive and negative singularities merge, closing the loop of a vortex line. Furthermore, we present an example of calculation of an specific discrete-Gauss state, which is the solution of the diffraction of a Laguerre-Gauss state showing definite angular momentum (that is, a highly charged vortex) by a thin diffractive element showing certain discrete symmetry. We show that thereby this problem is solved in a much simpler way than using the previous procedure based in the integral Fresnel diffraction method.

A generalized family of scalar structured Gaussian modes including helical-Ince--Gaussian (HIG) and Hermite--Laguerre--Gaussian (HLG) beams is presented with physical insight upon a hybrid topological evolution nature of multi-singularity vortex beam s carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM). Considering the physical origins of intrinsic coordinates aberration and the Gouy phase shift, a closed-form expression is derived to characterize the general modes in astigmatic optical systems. Moreover, a graphical representation, Singularities Hybrid Evolution Nature (SHEN) sphere, is proposed to visualize the topological evolution of the multi-singularity beams, accommodating HLG, HIG and other typical subfamilies as characteristic curves on the sphere surface. The salient properties of SHEN sphere for describing the precise singularities splitting phenomena, exotic structured light fields, and Gouy phase shift are illustrated with adequate experimental verifications.
We develop the theory of a special type of scattering state in which a set of asymptotic channels are chosen as inputs and the complementary set as outputs, and there is zero reflection back into the input channels. In general an infinite number of s uch solutions exist at discrete complex frequencies. Our results apply to linear electromagnetic and acoustic wave scattering and also to quantum scattering, in all dimensions, for arbitrary geometries including scatterers in free space, and for any choice of the input/output sets. We refer to such a state as reflection-zero (R-zero) when it occurs off the real-frequency axis and as an Reflectionless Scattering Mode (RSM) when it is tuned to a real frequency as a steady-state solution. Such reflectionless behavior requires a specific monochromatic input wavefront, given by the eigenvector of a filtered scattering matrix with eigenvalue zero. Steady-state RSMs may be realized by index tuning which do not break flux conservation or by gain-loss tuning. RSMs of flux-conserving cavities are bidirectional while those of non-flux-conserving cavities are generically unidirectional. Cavities with ${cal PT}$-symmetry have unidirectional R-zeros in complex-conjugate pairs, implying that reflectionless states naturally arise at real frequencies for small gain-loss parameter but move into the complex-frequency plane after a spontaneous ${cal PT}$-breaking transition. Numerical examples of RSMs are given for one-dimensional cavities with and without gain/loss, a ${cal PT}$ cavity, a two-dimensional multiwaveguide junction, and a two-dimensional deformed dielectric cavity in free space. We outline and implement a general technique for solving such problems, which shows promise for designing photonic structures which are perfectly impedance-matched for specific inputs, or can perfectly convert inputs from one set of modes to a complementary set.
The analytical vectorial structure of non-paraxial four-petal Gaussian beams(FPGBs) in the far field has been studied based on vector angular spectrum method and stationary phase method. In terms of analytical electromagnetic representations of the T E and TM terms, the energy flux distributions of the TE term, the TM term, and the whole beam are derived in the far field, respectively. According to our investigation, the FPGBs can evolve into a number of small petals in the far field. The number of the petals is determined by the order of input beam. The physical pictures of the FPGBs are well illustrated from the vectorial structure, which is beneficial to strengthen the understanding of vectorial properties of the FPGBs.

A unified description of the free-space cylindrical vector beams is presented, which is an integral transformation solution to the vector Helmholtz equation and the transversality condition. The amplitude 2-form of the angular spectrum involved in th is solution can be arbitrarily chosen. When one of the two elements is zero, we arrive at either transverse-electric or transverse-magnetic beam mode. In the paraxial condition, this solution not only includes the known $J_1$ Bessel-Gaussian vector beam and the axisymmetric Laguerre-Gaussian vector beam that were obtained by solving the paraxial wave equations, but also predicts two new kinds of vector beam, called the modified-Bessel-Gaussian vector beam.
In the present paper, an exact mathematical solution has been obtained for nonlinear free transverse vibration of beams, for the first time. The nonlinear governing partial differential equation in un-deformed coordinates system has been converted in two coupled partial differential equations in deformed coordinates system. A mathematical explanation is obtained for nonlinear mode shapes as well as natural frequencies versus geometrical and material properties of beam. It is shown that as the th mode of transverse vibration excited, the mode 2 th of in-plane vibration will be developed. The result of present work is compared with those obtained from Galerkin method and the observed agreement confirms the exact mathematical solution. It is shown that the governing equation is linear in the time domain. As a parameter, the amplitude to length ratio has been proposed to show when the nonlinear terms become dominant in the behavior of structure.
