Nonlocality is a fascinating and counterintuitive aspect of Nature, revealed by the violation of a Bell inequality. The standard and easiest configuration in which Bell inequalities can be measured has been proposed by Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH). However, alternative nonlocality tests can also be carried out. In particular, Bell inequalities requiring multiple measurement settings can provide deeper fundamental insights about quantum nonlocality as well as offering advantages in the presence of noise and detection inefficiency. In this article we show how these nonlocality tests can be performed using a commercially available source of entangled photon pairs. We report the violation of a series of these nonlocality tests (I3322, I4422 and chained inequalities). With the violation of the chained inequality with 4 settings per side we put an upper limit at 0.49 on the local content of the states prepared by the source (instead of 0.63 attainable with CHSH). We also quantify the amount of true randomness that has been created during our experiment (assuming fair sampling of the detected events).

Entanglement of quasiclassical (coherent) states of two harmonic oscillators leads to striking quantum effects and is useful for quantum technologies. These effects and applications are closely related to nonlocal correlations inherent in these state s, manifested by the violation of Bell inequalities. With previous frameworks, this violation is limited by the size of the system, which does not approach the maximum even when the amount of entanglement approaches its maximum. Here we propose a new version of Bell correlation operators, with which a nearly maximal violation can be obtained as long as the associated entanglement approximates to the maximum. Consequently, the revealed nonlocality is significantly stronger than those with previous frameworks for a wide range of the system size. We present a new scheme for realizing the gate necessary for measurement of the nonlocal correlations. In addition to the use in test of quantum nonlocality, this gate is useful for quantum information processing with coherent states
In this paper, we generalize the concept of strong quantum nonlocality from two aspects. Firstly in $mathbb{C}^dotimesmathbb{C}^dotimesmathbb{C}^d$ quantum system, we present a construction of strongly nonlocal quantum states containing $6(d-1)^2$ or thogonal product states, which is one order of magnitude less than the number of basis states $d^3$. Secondly, we give the explicit form of strongly nonlocal orthogonal product basis in $mathbb{C}^3otimes mathbb{C}^3otimes mathbb{C}^3otimes mathbb{C}^3$ quantum system, where four is the largest known number of subsystems in which there exists strong quantum nonlocality up to now. Both the two results positively answer the open problems in [Halder, textit{et al.}, PRL, 122, 040403 (2019)], that is, there do exist and even smaller number of quantum states can demonstrate strong quantum nonlocality without entanglement.

We use a single trapped 40Ca+ ion as a resonant, polarization-sensitive absorber to detect and characterize the entanglement of tunable narrowband photon pairs from a spontaneous parametric down-conversion source. Single-photon absorption is marked b y a quantum jump in the ion and heralded by coincident detection of the partner photon. For three polarization basis settings of absorption and detection of the herald, we find maximum coincidences always for orthogonal polarizations. The polarization entanglement is further evidenced by tomographic reconstruction of the biphoton quantum state.
Blind quantum computation is a scheme that adds unconditional security to cloud quantum computation. In the protocol proposed by Broadbent, Fitzsimons, and Kashefi, the ability to prepare and transmit a single qubit is required for a user (client) wh o uses a quantum computer remotely. In case a weak coherent pulse is used as a pseudo single photon source, however, we must introduce decoy states, owing to the inherent risk of transmitting multiple photon. In this study, we demonstrate that by using a heralded single photon source and a probabilistic photon number resolving detector, we can gain a higher blind state generation efficiency and longer access distance, owing to noise reduction on account of the heralding signal.

This work develops analytic methods to quantitatively demarcate quantum reality from its subset of classical phenomenon, as well as from the superset of general probabilistic theories. Regarding quantum nonlocality, we discuss how to determine the qu antum limit of Bell-type linear inequalities. In contrast to semidefinite programming approaches, our method allows for the consideration of inequalities with abstract weights, by means of leveraging the Hermiticity of quantum states. Recognizing that classical correlations correspond to measurements made on separable states, we also introduce a practical method for obtaining sufficient separability criteria. We specifically vet the candidacy of driven and undriven superradiance as schema for entanglement generation. We conclude by reviewing current approaches to quantum contextuality, emphasizing the operational distinction between nonlocal and contextual quantum statistics. We utilize our abstractly-weighted linear quantum bounds to explicitly demonstrate a set of conditional probability distributions which are simultaneously compatible with quantum contextuality while being incompatible with quantum nonlocality. It is noted that this novel statistical regime implies an experimentally-testable target for the Consistent Histories theory of quantum gravity.
