The Dresselhaus spin-orbit interaction (SOI) of a series of two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) hosted in GaAs/AlGaAs and InGaAs/GaAs (001) quantum wells (QWs) is measured by monitoring the precession frequency of the spins as a function of an in-plane electric field. The measured spin-orbit-induced spin-splitting is linear in the drift velocity, even in the regime where the cubic Dresselhaus SOI is important. We relate the measured splitting to the Dresselhaus coupling parameter, the QW confinement, the Fermi wavenumber and to strain effects. From this, the coupling parameter is determined quantitatively, including its sign.

The lifting of the two-fold degeneracy of the conduction valleys in a strained silicon quantum well is critical for spin quantum computing. Here, we obtain an accurate measurement of the splitting of the valley states in the low-field region of inter est, using the microwave spectroscopy technique of electron valley resonance (EVR). We compare our results with conventional methods, observing a linear magnetic field dependence of the valley splitting, and a strong low-field suppression, consistent with recent theory. The resonance linewidth shows a marked enhancement above $Tsimeq 300$ mK.

Using time-resolved Faraday rotation, the drift-induced spin-orbit Field of a two-dimensional electron gas in an InGaAs quantum well is measured. Including measurements of the electron mobility, the Dresselhaus and Rashba coefficients are determined as a function of temperature between 10 and 80 K. By comparing the relative size of these terms with a measured in-plane anisotropy of the spin dephasing rate, the Dyakonv-Perel contribution to spin dephasing is estimated. The measured dephasing rate is significantly larger than this, which can only partially be explained by an inhomogeneous g-factor.
The transport equations for a two-dimensional electron gas with spin-orbit interaction are presented. The distribution function is a 2x2-matrix in the spin space. Particle and energy conservation laws determine the expressions for the electric curren t and the energy flow. The derived transport equations are applied to the spin-splitting of a wave packed and to the calculation of the structure factor and the dynamic conductivity.
Through magneto-transport measurements and analysis of the observed Shubnikov de Haas oscillations in (010) (AlxGa1-x)2O3/Ga2O3 heterostructures, spin-splitting of the Landau levels in the (010) Ga2O3 two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) has been stud ied. Analysis indicates that the spin-splitting results from the Zeeman effect. By fitting the both the first and second harmonic of the oscillations as a function of magnetic field, we determine the magnitude of the Zeeman splitting to be 0.4$hbaromega_c$, with a corresponding effective g-factor of 2.7, for magnetic field perpendicular to the 2DEG.
The frequency dependence of microwave-induced resistance oscillations (MIROs) has been studied experimentally in high-mobility electron GaAs/AlGaAs structures to explore the limits at which these oscillations can be observed. It is found that in dc t ransport experiments at frequencies above 120 GHz, MIROs start to quench, while above 230 GHz, they completely disappear. The results will need to be understood theoretically but are qualitatively discussed within a model in which forced electronic charge oscillations (plasmons) play an intermediate role in the interaction process between the radiation and the single-particle electron excitations between Landau levels.
