We discuss the determination of the infrared singularities of massive one-loop 5-point functions with Mellin-Barnes (MB) representations. Massless internal lines may lead to poles in the $eps$ expansion of the Feynman diagram, while unresolved massless final state particles give endpoint singularities of the phase space integrals. MB integrals are an elegant tool for their common treatment. An evaluation by taking residues leads to inverse binomial sums.

The structure of real and virtual photons has been studied in electron-proton scattering processes producing di-jet events at HERA by the H1 and ZEUS collaborations. Data have been compared to next-to-leading order QCD calculations and to the predict ions of Monte Carlo generators based on the DGLAP and CCFM formalisms for describing the parton dynamics

We study Real and Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering in a model based on Regge trajectories and two-gluon exchange. In the kinematic regime of current experiments, the hadronic component of the outgoing real photon plays a major role. We analyze the s pin structure of Compton scattering at large momentum transfer and give predictions for several spin asymmetries. In the DVCS channel, a fairly good agreement is obtained for the recently measured beam spin and charge asymmetries.
A new formalism to calculate the in-medium chiral condensate is presented. At lower densities, this approach leads to a linear expression. If we demand a compatibility with the famous model-independent result, then the pion-nucleon sigma term should be six times the average current mass of light quarks. QCD-like interactions may slow the decreasing behavior of the condensate with increasing densities, compared with the linear extrapolation, if densities are lower than twice the nuclear saturation density. At higher densities, the condensate vanishes inevitably.

Models with large extra dimensions as well as unparticle models could give rise to new phenomena at collider experiments due to real emission or virtual exchange of gravitons or unparticles. In this paper we present the common implementation of these processes in the Monte Carlo generator Pythia8, using relations between the parameters of the two models. The program offers several options related to the treatment of the UV region of the effective theories, including the possibility of using a form factor for the running gravitational coupling. Characteristic results obtained with Pythia8 have been used to validate the implementations as well as to illustrate the key features and effects of the model parameters. The results presented in this paper are focused on mono-jet, di-photon and di-lepton final states at the LHC.

Measurements sensitive to the structure of both real and virtual photons are presented and compared to theoretical models with various photon parton distribution functions (PDFs). Measurements for real photons show a tendency for the available photon PDFs to be too small to describe the data. For virtual photons, the photon PDF is seen to decrease with increasing photon virtuality. In order to describe the data, resolved photon processes are required up to a photon virtuality of at least 4.5 GeV^2.
