The Four Vertex Theorem, one of the earliest results in global differential geometry, says that a simple closed curve in the plane, other than a circle, must have at least four vertices, that is, at least four points where the curvature has a local maximum or local minimum. In 1909 Syamadas Mukhopadhyaya proved this for strictly convex curves in the plane, and in 1912 Adolf Kneser proved it for all simple closed curves in the plane, not just the strictly convex ones. The Converse to the Four Vertex Theorem says that any continuous real-valued function on the circle which has at least two local maxima and two local minima is the curvature function of a simple closed curve in the plane. In 1971 Herman Gluck proved this for strictly positive preassigned curvature, and in 1997 Bjorn Dahlberg proved the full converse, without the restriction that the curvature be strictly positive. Publication was delayed by Dahlbergs untimely death in January 1998, but his paper was edited afterwards by Vilhelm Adolfsson and Peter Kumlin, and finally appeared in 2005. The work of Dahlberg completes the almost hundred-year-long thread of ideas begun by Mukhopadhyaya, and we take this opportunity to provide a self-contained exposition.

The mean flux theorems are proved for solutions of the Helmholtz equation and its modified version. Also, their converses are considered along with some other properties which generalise those that guarantee harmonicity.
We show that Sturms classical separation theorem on the interlacing of the zeros of linearly independent solutions of real second order two-term ordinary differential equations necessarily fails in the presence of a unique turning point in the princi pal part of the equation. Related results are discussed. The last section contains an extension of the main result to a finite number of turning points.
In this paper, we prove a classification theorem of 4-manifolds according to some conformal invariants, which generalizes the conformally invariant sphere theorem of Chang-Gursky-Yang cite{CGY}. Moreover, it provides a four-dimensional analogue of th e well-known classification theorem of Schoen-Yau cite{SY2} on 3-manifolds with positive Yamabe invariants.
We prove a Fatou-type theorem and its converse for certain positive eigenfunctions of the Laplace-Beltrami operator $mathcal{L}$ on a Harmonic $NA$ group. We show that a positive eigenfunction $u$ of $mathcal{L}$ with eigenvalue $beta^2-rho^2$, $beta in (0,infty)$, has an admissible limit in the sense of Koranyi, precisely at those boundary points where the strong derivative of the boundary measure of $u$ exists. Moreover, the admissible limit and the strong derivative are the same. This extends a result of Ramey and Ullrich regarding nontangential convergence of positive harmonic functions on the Euclidean upper half space.

In this paper, we completely prove a standard conjecture on the local converse theorem for generic representations of GLn(F), where F is a non-archimedean local field.
