We consider a strictly hyperbolic, genuinely nonlinear system of conservation laws in one space dimension. A sharp decay estimate is proved for the positive waves in an entropy weak solution. The result is stated in terms of a partial ordering among positive measures, using symmetric rearrangements and a comparison with a solution of Burgers equation with impulsive sources.
We consider the geodesic X-ray transform acting on solenoidal tensor fields on a compact simply connected manifold with strictly convex boundary and non-positive curvature. We establish a stability estimate of the form $L^2mapsto H^{1/2}_{T}$, where
We prove sharp pointwise decay estimates for critical Dirac equations on $mathbb{R}^n$ with $ngeq 2$. They appear for instance in the study of critical Dirac equations on compact spin manifolds, describing blow-up profiles, and as effective equations
We are concerned with the quantitative study of the electric field perturbation due to the presence of an inhomogeneous conductive rod embedded in a homogenous conductivity. We sharply quantify the dependence of the perturbed electric field on the ge
This paper deals with the existence of positive solutions for the nonlinear system q(t)phi(p(t)u_{i}(t)))+f^{i}(t,textbf{u})=0,quad 0<t<1,quad i=1,2,...,n. This system often arises in the study of positive radial solutions of nonlinear elliptic syste
In this paper, based on the local comparison principle in [12], we study the local behavior of the difference of two spacelike graphs in a neighborhood of a second contact point. Then we apply it to the constant mean curvature equation in 3-dimension
