A family of exact conformal field theories is constructed which describe charged black strings in three dimensions. Unlike previous charged black hole or extended black hole solutions in string theory, the low energy spacetime metric has a regular inner horizon (in addition to the event horizon) and a timelike singularity. As the charge to mass ratio approaches unity, the event horizon remains but the singularity disappears.

We have discussed a particular class of exact cosmological solutions of the 4-dimensional low energy string gravity in the string frame. In the vacuum without matter and the 2-form fields, the exact cosmological solutions always give monotonically sh rinking universes if the dilaton field is not a constant. However, in the presence of the 2-form fields and/or the radiation-like fluid in the string frame, the exact cosmological solutions show a minimum size of the universe in the evolution, but with an initial cosmological curvature singularity in the string frame.
An exact spherically symmetric black hole solution of a recently proposed noncommutative gravity theory based on star products and twists is constructed. This is the first nontrivial exact solution of that theory. The resulting noncommutative black h ole quite naturally exhibits holographic behavior; outside the horizon it has a fuzzy shell-like structure, inside the horizon it has a noncommutative de Sitter geometry. The star product and twist contain Killing vectors and act non-trivially on tensors except the metric, which is central in the algebra. The method used can be applied whenever there are enough spacetime symmetries. This includes noncommutati
We show that three-dimensional massive gravity admits Lifshitz metrics with generic values of the dynamical exponent z as exact solutions. At the point z=3, exact black hole solutions which are asymptotically Lifshitz arise. These spacetimes are thre e-dimensional analogues of those that were recently proposed as gravity duals for scale invariant fixed points.
Exact analytic solutions of static, stable, non-planar BPS domain wall junctions are obtained in extended Abelian-Higgs models in $(D+1)$-dimensional spacetime. For specific choice of mass parameters, the Lagrangian is invariant under the symmetric g roup ${cal S}_{D+1}$ of degree $D+1$ spontaneously broken down to ${cal S}_D$ in vacua, admitting ${cal S}_{D+1}/{cal S}_D$ domain wall junctions. In $D=2$, there are three vacua and three domain walls meeting at a junction point, in which the conventional topological charges $Y$ and $Z$ exist for the BPS domain wall junctions and the BPS domain walls, respectively as known before. In $D=3$, there are four vacua, six domain walls, four junction lines on which three domain walls meet, and one junction point on which all the six domain walls meet. We define a new topological charge $X$ for the junction point in addition to the conventional topological charges $Y$ and $Z$. In general dimensions, we find that the configuration expressed in the $D$-dimensional real space is dual to a regular $D$-simplex in the $D$-dimensional internal space and that a $d$-dimensional subsimplex of the regular $D$-simplex corresponds to a $(D-d)$-dimensional intersection. Topological charges are generalized to the level-$d$ wall charge $W_d$ for the $d$-dimensional subsimplexes.

We apply the duality transformation relating the heterotic to the IIA string in 6D to the class of exact string solutions described by the chiral null model and derive explicit formulas for all fields after reduction to 4D. If the model is restricted to asymptotically flat black hole type solutions with well defined mass and charges the purely electric solutions on the heterotic side are mapped to dyonic ones on the IIA side. The mass remains invariant. Before and after the duality transformation the solutions belong to short $N=4$ SUSY multiplets and saturate the corresponding Bogomolnyi bounds.
