We study large N conformal field theories perturbed by relevant double-trace deformations. Using the auxiliary field trick, or Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation, we show that in the infrared the theory flows to another CFT. The generating functionals of planar correlators in the ultraviolet and infrared CFTs are shown to be related by a Legendre transform. Our main result is a universal expression for the difference of the scale anomalies between the ultraviolet and infrared fixed points, which is of order 1 in the large N expansion. Our computations are entirely field theoretic, and the results are shown to agree with predictions from AdS/CFT. We also remark that a certain two-point function can be computed for all energy scales on both sides of the duality, with full agreement between the two and no scheme dependence.

In conformal field theories (CFTs) of dimension $d>3$, two-dimensional (2d) conformal defects are characterised in part by central charges defined via the defects contribution to the trace anomaly. However, in general for interacting CFTs these centr al charges are difficult to calculate. For superconformal 2d defects in supersymmetric (SUSY) CFTs (SCFTs), we show how to compute these defect central charges from the SUSY partition function either on $S^d$ with defect along $S^2$, or on $S^1 times S^{d-1}$ with defect along $S^1 times S^1$. In the latter case we propose that defect central charges appear in an overall normalisation factor, as part of the SUSY Casimir energy. For 2d half-BPS defects in 4d ${mathcal N}=2$ SCFTs and in the 6d ${mathcal N}=(2,0)$ SCFT we obtain novel, exact results for defect central charges using existing results for partition functions computed using SUSY localisation, SUSY indices, and correspondences to 2d Liouville, Toda, and $q$-deformed Yang-Mills theories. Some of our results for defect central charges agree with those obtained previously via holography, showing that the latter are not just large-$N$ and/or strong-coupling limits, but are exact. Our methods can be straightforwardly extended to other superconformal defects, of various codimension, as we demonstrate for a 4d defect in the 6d ${mathcal N}=(2,0)$ SCFT.

Poisson superalgebras realized on the smooth Grassmann valued functions with compact support in R^n have the central extensions. The deformations of these central extensions are found.
String theory on AdS$_3$ with NS-NS fluxes admits a solvable irrelevant deformation which is close to the $Tbar{T}$ deformation of the dual CFT$_2$. This consists of deforming the worldsheet action, namely the action of the $SL(2,mathbb{R})$ WZW mode l, by adding to it the operator $J^-bar{J}^-$, constructed with two Kac-Moody currents. The geometrical interpretation of the resulting theory is that of strings on a conformally flat background that interpolates between AdS$_3$ in the IR and a flat linear dilaton spacetime with Hagedorn spectrum in the UV, having passed through a transition region of positive curvature. Here, we study the properties of this string background both from the point of view of the low-energy effective theory and of the worldsheet CFT. We first study the geometrical properties of the semiclassical geometry, then we revise the computation of correlation functions and of the spectrum of the $J^-bar{J}^-$-deformed worldsheet theory, and finally we discuss how to extend this type of current-current deformation to other conformal models.
Central to the AdS/CFT correspondence is a precise relationship between the curvature of an anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime and the central charge of the dual conformal field theory (CFT) on its boundary. Our work shows that such a relationship can al so be established for tensor network models of AdS/CFT based on regular bulk geometries, leading to an analytical form of the maximal central charges exhibited by the boundary states. We identify a class of tensors based on Majorana dimer states that saturate these bounds in the large curvature limit, while also realizing perfect and block-perfect holographic quantum error correcting codes. Furthermore, the renormalization group description of the resulting model is shown to be analogous to the strong disorder renormalization group, thus giving the first example of an exact quantum error correcting code that gives rise to a well-understood critical system. These systems exhibit a large range of fractional central charges, tunable by the choice of bulk tiling. Our approach thus provides a precise physical interpretation of tensor network models on regular hyperbolic geometries and establishes quantitative connections to a wide range of existing models.

It is known that the $(a,c)$ central charges in four-dimensional CFTs are linear combinations of the three independent OPE coefficients of the stress-tensor three-point function. In this paper, we adopt the holographic approach using AdS gravity as a n effect field theory and consider higher-order corrections up to and including the cubic Riemann tensor invariants. We derive the holographic central charges and OPE coefficients and show that they are invariant under the metric field redefinition. We further discover a hidden relation among the OPE coefficients that two of them can be expressed in terms of the third using differential operators, which are the unit radial vector and the Laplacian of a four-dimensional hyperbolic space whose radial variable is an appropriate length parameter that is invariant under the field redefinition. Furthermore, we prove that the consequential relation $c=1/3 ell_{rm eff}partial a/partialell_{rm eff}$ and its higher-dimensional generalization are valid for massless AdS gravity constructed from the most general Riemann tensor invariants.
