In this paper we compare systematically the two-component Dual Parton Model (DPM) event generator Dpmjet-III to d-Au and p-p data from RHIC. In this process we are able to improve the model. The need for fusion of chains and a recalibration of the model to obtain collision scaling in h-A and d-A collisions was found already in previous comparisons. Here, comparing to transverse momentum distributions of identified charged hadrons we find also the need to modify the transverse momentum distributions in the decay of hadronic strings, the basic building blocks of the model on soft hadronic collisions.

The study of hadron spectra at high $p_{T}$ in p+p collisions provides a good test of perturbative quantum chromo-dynamic calculations (pQCD) and baseline for measurements of nuclear modification factors in Au+Au collisions. Using events triggered by the Barrel Electro-Magnetic Calorimeter, identified charged hadron transverse momentum ($p_T$) spectra are measured up to 15 GeV/$c$ at mid-rapidity ($mid ymid$ $<$ 0.5) and neutral kaon $p_T$ spectra up to 12 GeV/$c$ in p + p collisions at $sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. The particle ratios of $p/pi^{+}$, $bar{p}/pi^{-}$ and $K^{pm,0}$ / $pi^{pm}$ in p + p collisions are shown and compared with next-to-leading order pQCD calculations. In central Au+Au collisions, we report nuclear modification factors ($R_{AA}$) for pion, kaon, proton and $rho$ and discuss several model calculations: color-charge dependence of jet quenching and jet conversion. Finally, centrality dependence of $R_{AA}$ at high $p_T$ ($>$ 5.5 GeV/c) for kaon are compared with that of pion in Au + Au collisions at 200 GeV.

Results are presented from an ongoing analysis of direct photon production with the STAR experiment at RHIC. The direct photon measurement in d+Au collisions and the neutral pion spectrum in p+p collisions are found to be in agreement with NLO pQCD calculations.

The PHENIX experiment has measured direct photons at $sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV in $p+p$, $d$+Au and Au+Au collisions. For $p_{T}$ $<$ 4 GeV/$c$, the internal conversion into $e^{+}e^{-}$ pairs has been used to measure the direct photons in Au+Au.

The results on J/psi pT spectra in 200 GeV p+p and Au+Au collisions at STAR with pT in the range of 3-10 GeV/c are presented. Nuclear modification factor of high-pT J/psi is found to be consistent with no suppression in peripheral Au+Au collisions an d significantly smaller than unity in central Au+Au collisions. The J/psi elliptic flow is measured to be consistent with no flow at pT < 10 GeV/c in 20-60% Au+Au collisions.
We present theoretical model comparison with published ALICE results for D-mesons (D$^0$, D$^+$ and D$^{*+}$) in $p$+$p$ collisions at $sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV and $p$+Pb collisions at $sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV. Event generator HIJING, transport calculation of AMPT and calculations from NLO(MNR) and FONLL have been used for this study. We found that HIJING and AMPT model predictions are matching with published D-meson cross-sections in $p$+$p$ collisions, while both under-predict the same in $p$+Pb collisions. Attempts were made to explain the $R_{pPb}$ data using NLO-pQCD(MNR), FONLL and other above mentioned models.
