Heavy mirror fermions along with a new strong gauge interaction capable of breaking the electroweak gauge symmetry dynamically were recently introduced under the name of katoptrons. Their main function is to provide a viable alternative to the Standard-Model Higgs sector. In such a framework, ordinary fermions acquire masses after the breaking of the strong katoptron group which allows mixing with their katoptron partners. The purpose of this paper is to study the elementary-scalars-free mechanism responsible for this breaking and its implications for the fermion mass hierarchies.

We address the propagation and hadronization of a struck quark by studying the gauge invariance of the color-averaged cut quark propagator, and by relating this to the single inclusive quark fragmentation correlator by means of new sum rules. Using s uitable Wilson lines, we provide a gauge-invariant definition for the mass of the color-averaged dressed quark and decompose this into the sum of a current and an interaction-dependent component. The latter, which we argue is an order parameter for dynamical chiral symmetry breaking, also appears in the sum rule for the twist-3 $tilde{E}$ fragmentation function, providing a specific experimental way to probe the dynamical generation of mass in Quantum Chromo Dynamics.
In this letter we present a simple scenario where the mass scales associated to atmospheric and solar neutrino oscillations are obtained through the dynamical generation of neutrino masses. The main idea is that the two different scales are the resul t of two independent mechanisms, namely a type-I seesaw generating the atmospheric scale and a radiative 1-loop process providing the solar one. A relation of the two scales, reminiscent of the so-called sequential dominance, is thus obtained.
We introduce a simple model of dynamical supersymmetry breaking. It is like a supersymmetric version of a Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with a spin one composite. The simplest version of the model as presented here has a single chiral superfield (multipl et) with a four-superfield interaction. The latter has the structure of the square of the superfield magnitude square. A vacuum condensate of the latter is illustrated to develop giving rise to supersymmetry breaking with a soft mass term for the superfield. We report also the effective theory picture with a real superfield composite, illustrating the matching effective potential analysis and the vacuum solution conditions for the components. The nature of its fermionic part as the Goldstone mode is presented. Phenomenological application to the supersymmetric standard model is plausible.
We investigate the equal-time (static) quark propagator in Coulomb gauge within the Hamiltonian approach to QCD in $d=2$ spatial dimensions. Although the underlying Clifford algebra is very different from its counterpart in $d=3$, the gap equation fo r the dynamical mass function has the same form. The additional vector kernel which was introduced in $d=3$ to cancel the linear divergence of the gap equation and to preserve multiplicative renormalizability of the quark propagator makes the gap equation free of divergences also in $d=2$.
We study the frequency dependencies of the fermion and photon dressing functions in dynamical gap generation in graphene. We use a low energy effective QED-like description, but within this approximation, we include all frequency dependent effects in cluding retardation. We obtain the critical coupling by calculating the gap using a non-perturbative Dyson-Schwinger approach. Compared to the results of our previous calculation [1] which used a Lindhard screening approximation instead of including a self-consistently calculated dynamical screening function, the critical coupling is substantially reduced.
