The BaBar experiment and the PEP-II accelerator at SLAC started to take data on May 26, 1999. By the time of this conference, the recorded integrated luminosity was 20 fb^{-1}, of which 8 fb^{-1} were analyzed to provide a first set of physics results. This talk reviews the first measurement of sin2beta and the study of B meson decays to charmonium modes and 2-body charmless decays.

New BABAR results on B mesons and quarkonia are presented: an analysis of B+ --> X(3872)K+ and B0 --> X(3872)K0 decays with X(3872) --> J/Psi pi+pi-, a precise measurement of the B mass difference Delta mB = m(B0) - m(B+) and a study of hadronic transition between Upsilon mesons.

ALICE is the dedicated heavy-ion experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The experiment has also a broad program of QCD measurements in proton-proton (pp) collisions, which have two-fold interest: the study of particle production at the highest ener gy frontier, and the definition of references for the corresponding measurements in the upcoming Pb-Pb run. We present the first results on the pseudorapidity and transverse-momentum dependence of charged particle production in pp collisions at LHC energies, on the anti-p/p ratio and on the Bose-Einstein particle correlations. As an outlook, we report on the status of the ongoing analyses for strangeness and heavy-flavour production measurements.

We present a review of recent results from BaBar experiment. BaBar detector has collected about 256 millions of $Bbar B$ events at PEP-II, the asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider located at SLAC running at the $Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. We have studied CP vio lation in B mesons, observing the first evidence of direct CP violation in B meson decays and measured CP asymmetries relevant for the determination of the angles of the CKM Unitarity Triangle. BaBar physics program covers many other topics, including measurements of CKM matrix elements, charm physics, and search for new physics processes.

The BABAR collaboration has nearly completed a program of precise measurements of the cross sections for the dominant channels of e+e- --> hadrons from threshold to an energy of 3-5 GeV using the initial-state radiation (ISR) method, i.e. the measure ment of the cross sections e+e- --> gamma hadrons with the energetic photon detected at large angle to the beams. These data are used as input to vacuum polarization dispersion integrals, in particular the hadronic contribution to the muon g-2 anomaly. In addition to the recently measured pi+pi- cross section, giving the dominant contibution, many multihadronic channels have been investigated, with some recent examples presented here. We give preliminary results for the process e+e- --> K+K-(gamma) using 232 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at e+e- center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The lowest-order contribution to the hadronic vacuum polarization term in the muon magnetic anomaly is obtained for this channel: amu-KK-LO=(22.95 +-0.14(stat) +-0.22(syst)) 10^-10, which is about a factor of three more precise than the previous world average value.
We report on the first measurements of the LHCb experiment, as obtained from $pp$ collisions at $sqrt{s} = 0.9$ TeV and 7 TeV recorded using a minimum bias trigger. In particular measurements of the absolute $K^0_S$ production cross section at $sqrt{ s} = 0.9$ TeV and of the $bar{Lambda}/Lambda$ ratio both at $sqrt{s} = 0.9$ TeV and 7 TeV are discussed and preliminary results are presented.
