High resolution total and indium differential atomic pair distribution functions (PDFs) for In_(0.5)Ga_(0.5)As alloys have been obtained by high energy and anomalous x-ray diffraction experiments, respectively. The first peak in the total PDF is resolved as a doublet due to the presence of two distinct bond lengths, In-As and Ga-As. The In differential PDF, which involves only atomic pairs containing In, yields chemical specific information and helps ease the structure data interpretation. Both PDFs have been fit with structure models and the way in that the underlying cubic zinc-blende lattice of In_(0.5)Ga_(0.5)As semiconductor alloy distorts locally to accommodate the distinct In-As and Ga-As bond lengths present has been quantified.
Pb(Fe$_{0.5}$Nb$_{0.5}$)O$_3$ (PFN), one of the few relaxor multiferroic systems, has a $G$-type antiferromagnetic transition at $T_N$ = 143 K and a ferroelectric transition at $T_C$ = 385 K. By using high-resolution neutron-diffraction experiments a
Neutron pair distribution function analysis and first principles calculations have been employed to study short-range correlations in heavily disordered dielectric material Sr$_x$Ba$_{1-x}$Nb$_2$O$_6$ ($x=0.35, 0.5$ and 0.61). The combination of meth
Using ab initio calculations and special quasirandom structures, we have characterized the distribution of defect formation energy and migration barrier in Ni-based solid-solution alloys: Ni_{0.5}Co_{0.5}, Ni_{0.5}Fe_{0.5}, Ni_{0.8}Fe_{0.2} and Ni_{0
Multiferroic (Bi1-xLaxFeO3)0.5(PbTiO3)0.5 ceramics was prepared from mechanical synthesized nanopowders. The XRD studies revealed the tetragonal structure and the tetragonality decreased with La content. Dielectric response of the compounds was found
We have studied the critical behaviour in $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_{3}$ near the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transition temperature. We have analysed our dc magnetisation data near the transition temperature with the help of modified Arrott plots, Kouvel-
