We examine the possible reionization of the intergalactic medium (IGM) by the source UDF033238.7-274839.8 (hereafter HUDF-JD2), which was discovered in deep {it HST}/VLT/{it Spitzer} images obtained as part of the Great Observatory Origins Deep Survey and {it Hubble} Ultra-Deep Field projects. Mobasher et al (2005) have identified HUDF-JD2 as a massive ($sim6times10^{11}M_odot$) post-starburst galaxy at redshift z$gtrsim6.5$. We find that HUDF-JD2 may be capable of reionizing its surrounding region of the Universe, starting the process at a redshift as high as z$approx 15 pm5$.
Probing the growth of structure from the epoch of hydrogen recombination to the formation of the first stars and galaxies is one of the most important uncharted areas of observational cosmology. Far-IR spectroscopy covering $lambda$ 100-500 microns f
We calculate the reionization history for different models of the stellar population and explore the effects of primordial magnetic fields, dark matter decay and dark matter annihilation on reionization. We find that stellar populations based on a Sc
We study a Dark Matter (DM) model in which the dominant coupling to the standard model occurs through a neutrino-DM-scalar coupling. The new singlet scalar will generically have couplings to nuclei/electrons arising from renormalizable Higgs portal i
In this thesis we study early universe in the frame work of M theory. In particular We assume that the early universe is homogeneous, anisotropic, and is dominated by the mutually BPS 2255 intersecting branes of M theory. We find that, asymptotically
Imaging at 1.25 and 2.20 microns has been obtained of the field containing the galaxy (RD1) found at redshift 5.34 by Dey et al.(1998). This galaxy has been detected at 1.25 microns, while the lower redshift (z=4.02) galaxy also found in the same fie
