This paper proposes a hybrid dimming scheme based on joint LED selection and precoding design (TASP-HD) for multiple-user (MU) multiple-cell (MC) visible light communications (VLC) systems. In TASP-HD, both the LED selection and the precoding of each cell can be dynamically adjusted to reduce the intra- and inter-cell interferences while satisfying illumination constraints. First, a MU-MC-VLC system model is established, and then a sum-rate maximization problem under dimming level and illumination uniformity constraints is formulated. In this studied problem, the indices of activated LEDs and precoding matrices are optimized, which result in a complex non-convex mixed integer problem. To solve this problem, the original problem is separated into two subproblems. The first subproblem, which maximizes the sum-rate of users via optimizing the LED selection with a given precoding matrix, is a mixed integer problem solved by the penalty method. With the optimized LED selection matrix, the second subproblem which focuses on the maximization of the sum-rate via optimizing the precoding matrix is solved by the Lagrangian dual method. Finally, these two subproblems are iteratively solved to obtain a convergent solution. Simulation results verify that in a typical indoor scenario under a dimming level of 70%, the mean bandwidth efficiency of TASP-HD is 4.8 bit/s/Hz and 7.13 bit/s/Hz greater than AD and DD, respectively.

To accommodate the advent of microgrids (MG) managing distributed energy resources (DER) in distribution systems, an interactive two-stage joint retail electricity market mechanism is proposed to provide an effective platform for these prosumers to p roactively join in retail transactions. Day-ahead stochastic energy trading between the distribution system operator (DSO) and MGs is conducted in the first stage of a centralized retail market, where a chance-constrained uncertainty distribution locational marginal price (CC-UDLMP) containing the cost of uncertainty precautions is used to settle transactions. In the second stage, a novel intra-day peer-to-peer-based (P2P) flexibility transaction pattern is implemented between MGs in local flexibility markets under the regulation of DSO to eliminate power imbalances caused by rolling-based estimates whilst considering systematic operations. A fully distributed iterative algorithm is presented to find the equilibrium solution of this two-stage sequential game framework. Moreover, in order to enhance the versatility of this algorithm, an improved Lp-box alternating direction methods of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm is used to efficiently resolve the first-stage stochastic economic dispatch problem with a mixed-integer second-order cone structure. It is verified that the proposed market mechanism can effectively improve the overall market efficiency under uncertainties.
Large number of antennas and radio frequency (RF) chains at the base stations (BSs) lead to high energy consumption in massive MIMO systems. Thus, how to improve the energy efficiency (EE) with a computationally efficient approach is a significant ch allenge in the design of massive MIMO systems. With this motivation, a learning-based stochastic gradient descent algorithm is proposed in this paper to obtain the optimal joint uplink and downlink EE with joint antenna selection and user scheduling in single-cell massive MIMO systems. Using Jensens inequality and the characteristics of wireless channels, a lower bound on the system throughput is obtained. Subsequently, incorporating the power consumption model, the corresponding lower bound on the EE of the system is identified. Finally, learning-based stochastic gradient descent method is used to solve the joint antenna selection and user scheduling problem, which is a combinatorial optimization problem. Rare event simulation is embedded in the learning-based stochastic gradient descent method to generate samples with very small probabilities. In the analysis, both perfect and imperfect channel side information (CSI) at the BS are considered. Minimum mean-square error (MMSE) channel estimation is employed in the study of the imperfect CSI case. In addition, the effect of a constraint on the number of available RF chains in massive MIMO system is investigated considering both perfect and imperfect CSI at the BS.
We study identification of linear systems with multiplicative noise from multiple trajectory data. A least-squares algorithm, based on exploratory inputs, is proposed to simultaneously estimate the parameters of the nominal system and the covariance matrix of the multiplicative noise. The algorithm does not need prior knowledge of the noise or stability of the system, but requires mild conditions of inputs and relatively small length for each trajectory. Identifiability of the noise covariance matrix is studied, showing that there exists an equivalent class of matrices that generate the same second-moment dynamic of system states. It is demonstrated how to obtain the equivalent class based on estimates of the noise covariance. Asymptotic consistency of the algorithm is verified under sufficiently exciting inputs and system controllability conditions. Non-asymptotic estimation performance is also analyzed under the assumption that system states and noise are bounded, providing vanishing high-probability bounds as the number of trajectories grows to infinity. The results are illustrated by numerical simulations.
Joint user selection (US) and vector precoding (US-VP) is proposed for multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) downlink. The main difference between joint US-VP and conventional US is that US depends on data symbols for joint US-VP, wherea s conventional US is independent of data symbols. The replica method is used to analyze the performance of joint US-VP in the large-system limit, where the numbers of transmit antennas, users, and selected users tend to infinity while their ratios are kept constant. The analysis under the assumptions of replica symmetry (RS) and 1-step replica symmetry breaking (1RSB) implies that optimal data-independent US provides nothing but the same performance as random US in the large-system limit, whereas data-independent US is capacity-achieving as only the number of users tends to infinity. It is shown that joint US-VP can provide a substantial reduction of the energy penalty in the large-system limit. Consequently, joint US-VP outperforms separate US-VP in terms of the achievable sum rate, which consists of a combination of vector precoding (VP) and data-independent US. In particular, data-dependent US can be applied to general modulation, and implemented with a greedy algorithm.

Logistics has gained great attentions with the prosperous development of commerce, which is often seen as the classic optimal vehicle routing problem. Meanwhile, electric vehicle (EV) has been widely used in logistic fleet to curb the emission of gre en house gases in recent years. Solving the optimization problem of joint routing and charging of multiple EVs is in a urgent need, whose objective function includes charging time, charging cost, EVs travel time, usage fees of EV and revenue from serving customers. This joint problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming (MIP) problem, which, however, is NP-hard due to integer restrictions and bilinear terms from the coupling between routing and charging decisions. The main contribution of this paper lies at proposing an efficient two stage algorithm that can decompose the original MIP problem into two linear programming (LP) problems, by exploiting the exactness of LP relaxation and eliminating the coupled term. This algorithm can achieve a nearoptimal solution in polynomial time. In addition, another variant algorithm is proposed based on the two stage one, to further improve the quality of solution.
