With the popularity of blockchain technology, the financial security issues of blockchain transaction networks have become increasingly serious. Phishing scam detection methods will protect possible victims and build a healthier blockchain ecosystem. Usually, the existing works define phishing scam detection as a node classification task by learning the potential features of users through graph embedding methods such as random walk or graph neural network (GNN). However, these detection methods are suffered from high complexity due to the large scale of the blockchain transaction network, ignoring temporal information of the transaction. Addressing this problem, we defined the transaction pattern graphs for users and transformed the phishing scam detection into a graph classification task. To extract richer information from the input graph, we proposed a multi-channel graph classification model (MCGC) with multiple feature extraction channels for GNN. The transaction pattern graphs and MCGC are more able to detect potential phishing scammers by extracting the transaction pattern features of the target users. Extensive experiments on seven benchmark and Ethereum datasets demonstrate that the proposed MCGC can not only achieve state-of-the-art performance in the graph classification task but also achieve effective phishing scam detection based on the target users transaction pattern graphs.

In recent years, phishing scams have become the crime type with the largest money involved on Ethereum, the second-largest blockchain platform. Meanwhile, graph neural network (GNN) has shown promising performance in various node classification tasks . However, for Ethereum transaction data, which could be naturally abstracted to a real-world complex graph, the scarcity of labels and the huge volume of transaction data make it difficult to take advantage of GNN methods. Here in this paper, to address the two challenges, we propose a Self-supervised Incremental deep Graph learning model (SIEGE), for the phishing scam detection problem on Ethereum. In our model, two pretext tasks designed from spatial and temporal perspectives help us effectively learn useful node embedding from the huge amount of unlabelled transaction data. And the incremental paradigm allows us to efficiently handle large-scale transaction data and help the model maintain good performance when the data distribution is drastically changing. We collect transaction records about half a year from Ethereum and our extensive experiments show that our model consistently outperforms strong baselines in both transductive and inductive settings.
As the COVID-19 pandemic started triggering widespread lockdowns across the globe, cybercriminals did not hesitate to take advantage of users increased usage of the Internet and their reliance on it. In this paper, we carry out a comprehensive measur ement study of online social engineering attacks in the early months of the pandemic. By collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing DNS records, TLS certificates, phishing URLs, phishing website source code, phishing emails, web traffic to phishing websites, news articles, and government announcements, we track trends of phishing activity between January and May 2020 and seek to understand the key implications of the underlying trends. We find that phishing attack traffic in March and April 2020 skyrocketed up to 220% of its pre-COVID-19 rate, far exceeding typical seasonal spikes. Attackers exploited victims uncertainty and fear related to the pandemic through a variety of highly targeted scams, including emerging scam types against which current defenses are not sufficient as well as traditional phishing which outpaced the ecosystems collective response.

Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) have gained great popularity in tackling various analytics tasks on graph and network data. However, some recent studies raise concerns about whether GCNs can optimally integrate node features and topological struc tures in a complex graph with rich information. In this paper, we first present an experimental investigation. Surprisingly, our experimental results clearly show that the capability of the state-of-the-art GCNs in fusing node features and topological structures is distant from optimal or even satisfactory. The weakness may severely hinder the capability of GCNs in some classification tasks, since GCNs may not be able to adaptively learn some deep correlation information between topological structures and node features. Can we remedy the weakness and design a new type of GCNs that can retain the advantages of the state-of-the-art GCNs and, at the same time, enhance the capability of fusing topological structures and node features substantially? We tackle the challenge and propose an adaptive multi-channel graph convolutional networks for semi-supervised classification (AM-GCN). The central idea is that we extract the specific and common embeddings from node features, topological structures, and their combinations simultaneously, and use the attention mechanism to learn adaptive importance weights of the embeddings. Our extensive experiments on benchmark data sets clearly show that AM-GCN extracts the most correlated information from both node features and topological structures substantially, and improves the classification accuracy with a clear margin.
Feature generation is an open topic of investigation in graph machine learning. In this paper, we study the use of graph homomorphism density features as a scalable alternative to homomorphism numbers which retain similar theoretical properties and a bility to take into account inductive bias. For this, we propose a high-performance implementation of a simple sampling algorithm which computes additive approximations of homomorphism densities. In the context of graph machine learning, we demonstrate in experiments that simple linear models trained on sample homomorphism densities can achieve performance comparable to graph neural networks on standard graph classification datasets. Finally, we show in experiments on synthetic data that this algorithm scales to very large graphs when implemented with Bloom filters.

Recently, scene text detection has become an active research topic in computer vision and document analysis, because of its great importance and significant challenge. However, vast majority of the existing methods detect text within local regions, t ypically through extracting character, word or line level candidates followed by candidate aggregation and false positive elimination, which potentially exclude the effect of wide-scope and long-range contextual cues in the scene. To take full advantage of the rich information available in the whole natural image, we propose to localize text in a holistic manner, by casting scene text detection as a semantic segmentation problem. The proposed algorithm directly runs on full images and produces global, pixel-wise prediction maps, in which detections are subsequently formed. To better make use of the properties of text, three types of information regarding text region, individual characters and their relationship are estimated, with a single Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) model. With such predictions of text properties, the proposed algorithm can simultaneously handle horizontal, multi-oriented and curved text in real-world natural images. The experiments on standard benchmarks, including ICDAR 2013, ICDAR 2015 and MSRA-TD500, demonstrate that the proposed algorithm substantially outperforms previous state-of-the-art approaches. Moreover, we report the first baseline result on the recently-released, large-scale dataset COCO-Text.
