Location and appearance are the key cues for video object segmentation. Many sources such as RGB, depth, optical flow and static saliency can provide useful information about the objects. However, existing approaches only utilize the RGB or RGB and optical flow. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-source fusion network for zero-shot video object segmentation. With the help of interoceptive spatial attention module (ISAM), spatial importance of each source is highlighted. Furthermore, we design a feature purification module (FPM) to filter the inter-source incompatible features. By the ISAM and FPM, the multi-source features are effectively fused. In addition, we put forward an automatic predictor selection network (APS) to select the better prediction of either the static saliency predictor or the moving object predictor in order to prevent over-reliance on the failed results caused by low-quality optical flow maps. Extensive experiments on three challenging public benchmarks (i.e. DAVIS$_{16}$, Youtube-Objects and FBMS) show that the proposed model achieves compelling performance against the state-of-the-arts. In this paper, we present a novel Motion-Attentive Transition Network (MATNet) for zero-shot video object segmentation, which provides a new way of leveraging motion information to reinforce spatio-temporal object representation. An asymmetric attent ion block, called Motion-Attentive Transition (MAT), is designed within a two-stream encoder, which transforms appearance features into motion-attentive representations at each convolutional stage. In this way, the encoder becomes deeply interleaved, allowing for closely hierarchical interactions between object motion and appearance. This is superior to the typical two-stream architecture, which treats motion and appearance separately in each stream and often suffers from overfitting to appearance information. Additionally, a bridge network is proposed to obtain a compact, discriminative and scale-sensitive representation for multi-level encoder features, which is further fed into a decoder to achieve segmentation results. Extensive experiments on three challenging public benchmarks (i.e. DAVIS-16, FBMS and Youtube-Objects) show that our model achieves compelling performance against the state-of-the-arts.
This work proposes a novel attentive graph neural network (AGNN) for zero-shot video object segmentation (ZVOS). The suggested AGNN recasts this task as a process of iterative information fusion over video graphs. Specifically, AGNN builds a fully co nnected graph to efficiently represent frames as nodes, and relations between arbitrary frame pairs as edges. The underlying pair-wise relations are described by a differentiable attention mechanism. Through parametric message passing, AGNN is able to efficiently capture and mine much richer and higher-order relations between video frames, thus enabling a more complete understanding of video content and more accurate foreground estimation. Experimental results on three video segmentation datasets show that AGNN sets a new state-of-the-art in each case. To further demonstrate the generalizability of our framework, we extend AGNN to an additional task: image object co-segmentation (IOCS). We perform experiments on two famous IOCS datasets and observe again the superiority of our AGNN model. The extensive experiments verify that AGNN is able to learn the underlying semantic/appearance relationships among video frames or related images, and discover the common objects.
This paper addresses the task of unsupervised video multi-object segmentation. Current approaches follow a two-stage paradigm: 1) detect object proposals using pre-trained Mask R-CNN, and 2) conduct generic feature matching for temporal association u sing re-identification techniques. However, the generic features, widely used in both stages, are not reliable for characterizing unseen objects, leading to poor generalization. To address this, we introduce a novel approach for more accurate and efficient spatio-temporal segmentation. In particular, to address textbf{instance discrimination}, we propose to combine foreground region estimation and instance grouping together in one network, and additionally introduce temporal guidance for segmenting each frame, enabling more accurate object discovery. For textbf{temporal association}, we complement current video object segmentation architectures with a discriminative appearance model, capable of capturing more fine-grained target-specific information. Given object proposals from the instance discrimination network, three essential strategies are adopted to achieve accurate segmentation: 1) target-specific tracking using a memory-augmented appearance model; 2) target-agnostic verification to trace possible tracklets for the proposal; 3) adaptive memory updating using the verified segments. We evaluate the proposed approach on DAVIS$_{17}$ and YouTube-VIS, and the results demonstrate that it outperforms state-of-the-art methods both in segmentation accuracy and inference speed.

3D multi-object tracking is an important component in robotic perception systems such as self-driving vehicles. Recent work follows a tracking-by-detection pipeline, which aims to match past tracklets with detections in the current frame. To avoid ma tching with false positive detections, prior work filters out detections with low confidence scores via a threshold. However, finding a proper threshold is non-trivial, which requires extensive manual search via ablation study. Also, this threshold is sensitive to many factors such as target object category so we need to re-search the threshold if these factors change. To ease this process, we propose to automatically select high-quality detections and remove the efforts needed for manual threshold search. Also, prior work often uses a single threshold per data sequence, which is sub-optimal in particular frames or for certain objects. Instead, we dynamically search threshold per frame or per object to further boost performance. Through experiments on KITTI and nuScenes, our method can filter out $45.7%$ false positives while maintaining the recall, achieving new S.O.T.A. performance and removing the need for manually threshold tuning.

Multi-instance video object segmentation is to segment specific instances throughout a video sequence in pixel level, given only an annotated first frame. In this paper, we implement an effective fully convolutional networks with U-Net similar struct ure built on top of OSVOS fine-tuned layer. We use instance isolation to transform this multi-instance segmentation problem into binary labeling problem, and use weighted cross entropy loss and dice coefficient loss as our loss function. Our best model achieves F mean of 0.467 and J mean of 0.424 on DAVIS dataset, which is a comparable performance with the State-of-the-Art approach. But case analysis shows this model can achieve a smoother contour and better instance coverage, meaning it better for recall focused segmentation scenario. We also did experiments on other convolutional neural networks, including Seg-Net, Mask R-CNN, and provide insightful comparison and discussion.
