We consider the damped/driven cubic NLS equation on the torus of a large period $L$ with a small nonlinearity of size $lambda$, a properly scaled random forcing and dissipation. We examine its solutions under the subsequent limit when first $lambdato 0$ and then $Lto infty$. The first limit, called the limit of discrete turbulence, is known to exist, and in this work we study the second limit $Ltoinfty$ for solutions to the equations of discrete turbulence. Namely, we decompose the solutions to formal series in amplitude and study the second order truncation of this series. We prove that the energy spectrum of the truncated solutions becomes close to solutions of a damped/driven nonlinear wave kinetic equation. Kinetic nonlinearity of the latter is similar to that which usually appears in works on wave turbulence, but is different from it (in particular, it is non-autonomous). Apart from tools from analysis and stochastic analysis, our work uses two powerful results from the number theory.

The Riemann-Hilbert problems for multiple orthogonal polynomials of types I and II are used to derive string equations associated to pairs of Lax-Orlov operators. A method for determining the quasiclassical limit of string equations in the phase spac e of the Whitham hierarchy of dispersionless integrable systems is provided. Applications to the analysis of the large-n limit of multiple orthogonal polynomials and their associated random matrix ensembles and models of non-intersecting Brownian motions are given.

It has been shown in the authors companion paper that solutions of Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equations in $mathbb{R}^{3+1}$ possess some form of global strong decay properties with data bounded in some weighted energy space. In this paper, we prove pointw ise decay estimates for the solutions for the case when the initial data are merely small on the scalar field but can be arbitrarily large on the Maxwell field. This extends the previous result of Lindblad-Sterbenz cite{LindbladMKG}, in which smallness was assumed both for the scalar field and the Maxwell field.

We present a general algorithm to show that a scattering operator associated to a semilinear dispersive equation is real analytic, and to compute the coefficients of its Taylor series at any point. We illustrate this method in the case of the Schrodi nger equation with power-like nonlinearity or with Hartree type nonlinearity, and in the case of the wave and Klein-Gordon equations with power nonlinearity. Finally, we discuss the link of this approach with inverse scattering, and with complete integrability.

In this paper we prove the convergence of solutions to discrete models for binary waveguide arrays toward those of their formal continuum limit, for which we also show the existence of localized standing waves. This work rigorously justifies formal a rguments and numerical simulations present in the Physics literature.
In this paper, we provide rigorous justification of the hydrostatic approximation and the derivation of primitive equations as the small aspect ratio limit of the incompressible three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations in the anisotropic horizontal viscosity regime. Setting $varepsilon >0$ to be the small aspect ratio of the vertical to the horizontal scales of the domain, we investigate the case when the horizontal and vertical viscosities in the incompressible three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are of orders $O(1)$ and $O(varepsilon^alpha)$, respectively, with $alpha>2$, for which the limiting system is the primitive equations with only horizontal viscosity as $varepsilon$ tends to zero. In particular we show that for well prepared initial data the solutions of the scaled incompressible three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations converge strongly, in any finite interval of time, to the corresponding solutions of the anisotropic primitive equations with only horizontal viscosities, as $varepsilon$ tends to zero, and that the convergence rate is of order $Oleft(varepsilon^fracbeta2right)$, where $beta=min{alpha-2,2}$. Note that this result is different from the case $alpha=2$ studied in [Li, J.; Titi, E.S.: emph{The primitive equations as the small aspect ratio limit of the Navier-Stokes equations: Rigorous justification of the hydrostatic approximation}, J. Math. Pures Appl., textbf{124} rm(2019), 30--58], where the limiting system is the primitive equations with full viscosities and the convergence is globally in time and its rate of order $Oleft(varepsilonright)$.
