The latest measurements of the anomalous muon magnetic moment $a^{}_mu equiv (g^{}_mu - 2)/2$ show a $4.2sigma$ discrepancy between the theoretical prediction of the Standard Model and the experimental observations. In order to account for such a discrepancy, we consider a possible extension of the type-(I+II) seesaw model for neutrino mass generation with a gauged $L^{}_mu - L^{}_tau$ symmetry. By explicitly constructing an economical model with only one extra scalar singlet, we demonstrate that the gauge symmetry $U(1)^{}_{L^{}_mu - L^{}_tau}$ and its spontaneous breaking are crucially important not only for explaining the muon $(g - 2)$ result but also for generating neutrino masses and leptonic flavor mixing. Various phenomenological implications and experimental constraints on the model parameters are also discussed.

We propose a leptoquark model with two scalar leptoquarks $S^{}_1 left( bar{3},1,frac{1}{3} right)$ and $widetilde{R}^{}_2 left(3,2,frac{1}{6} right)$ to give a combined explanation of neutrino masses, lepton flavor mixing and the anomaly of muon $g- 2$, satisfying the constraints from the radiative decays of charged leptons. The neutrino masses are generated via one-loop corrections resulting from a mixing between $S^{}_1$ and $widetilde{R}^{}_2$. With a set of specific textures for the leptoquark Yukawa coupling matrices, the neutrino mass matrix possesses an approximate $mu$-$tau$ reflection symmetry with $left( M^{}_ u right)^{}_{ee} = 0$ only in favor of the normal neutrino mass ordering. We show that this model can successfully explain the anomaly of muon $g-2$ and current experimental neutrino oscillation data under the constraints from the radiative decays of charged leptons.
In a recently proposed renormalizable model of neutrino mixing using the non-Abelian discrete symmetry T_7 in the context of a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with gauged U(1)_{B-L}, a correlation was obtained between theta_{13} and th eta_{23} in the case where all parameters are real. Here we consider all parameters to be complex, thus allowing for one Dirac CP phase delta_{CP} and two Majorana CP phases alpha_{1,2}. We find a slight modification to this correlation as a function of delta_{CP}. For a given set of input values of Delta m^2_{21}, Delta m^2_{32}, theta_{12}, and theta_{13}, we obtain sin^2 2 theta_{23} and m_{ee} (the effective Majorana neutrino mass in neutrinoless double beta decay) as functions of tan delta_{CP}. We find that the structure of this model always yields small |tan delta_{CP}|.

We present an economical model where an $S^{}_1$ leptoquark and an anomaly-free $U(1)^{}_X$ gauge symmetry with $X = B^{}_3-2L^{}_mu/3-L^{}_tau/3$ are introduced, to account for the muon anomalous magnetic moment $a^{}_mu equiv (g^{}_mu-2)$ and flavo r puzzles including $R^{}_{K^{(ast)_{}}}$ and $R^{}_{D^{(ast)_{}}}$ anomalies together with quark and lepton flavor mixing. The $Z^prime_{}$ gauge boson associated with the $U(1)^{}_X$ symmetry is responsible for the $R^{}_{K^{(ast)_{}}}$ anomaly. Meanwhile, the specific flavor mixing patterns of quarks and leptons can be generated after the spontaneous breakdown of the $U(1)^{}_X$ gauge symmetry via the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism. The $S^{}_1$ leptoquark which is also charged under the $U(1)^{}_X$ gauge symmetry can simultaneously explain the latest muon $(g-2)$ result and the $R^{}_{D^{(ast)_{}}}$ anomaly. In addition, we also discuss several other experimental constraints on our model.
In this work, we consider the implementation of $U(1)_{L_e-L_tau}$ gauge symmetry to study the neutrino phenomenology within the framework of type-(I+II) seesaw. The model involves three right-handed neutrinos, a scalar singlet along with a scalar tr iplet in addition to the standard model particle spectrum. The neutrino mass matrix is found to acquire a simple texture two-zero structure and thus, turns out to be quite helpful in explaining the neutrino oscillation parameters and also accommodating the effective electron neutrino mass ($m_{ee}$) in neutrinoless double beta decay. We also briefly discuss the lepton flavor violating $tau$ decays $tau to e gamma$ and $tau to mu bar mu mu$ in this model.
General Two Higgs Doublet Models (2HDM) are popular Standard Model extensions but feature flavor changing interactions and lack neutrino masses. We discuss a 2HDM where neutrino masses are generated via type I seesaw and propose an extension where ne utrino masses are generated via a type II seesaw mechanism with flavor changing interactions being absent via the presence of a U(1) gauge symmetry. After considering a variety of bounds such as those rising from collider and electroweak precision we show that our proposal stands as a UV complete 2HDM with a dark photon where neutrino masses and flavor changing interactions are addressed. A possible dark matter realization is also discussed.
