We consider the Dirac operator on asymptotically static Lorentzian manifolds with an odd-dimensional compact Cauchy surface. We prove that if Atiyah-Patodi-Singer boundary conditions are imposed at infinite times then the Dirac operator is Fredholm. This generalizes a theorem due to Bar-Strohmaier in the case of finite times, and we also show that the corresponding index formula extends to the infinite setting. Furthermore, we demonstrate the existence of a Fredholm inverse which is at the same time a Feynman parametrix in the sense of Duistermaat-Hormander. The proof combines methods from time-dependent scattering theory with a variant of Egorovs theorem for pseudo-differential hyperbolic systems.

We study the index of the APS boundary value problem for a strongly Callias-type operator $D$ on a complete even dimensional Riemannian manifold $M$ (the odd dimensional case was considered in our previous paper arXiv:1706.06737). We use this index t o define the relative $eta$-invariant $eta(A_1,A_0)$ of two strongly Callias-type operators, which are equal outside of a compact set. Even though in our situation the $eta$-invariants of $A_1$ and $A_0$ are not defined, the relative $eta$-invariant behaves as if it were the difference $eta(A_1)-eta(A_0)$. We also define the spectral flow of a family of such operators and use it compute the variation of the relative $eta$-invariant.

In this paper, we will study harmonic functions on the complete and incomplete spaces with nonnegative Ricci curvature which exhibit inhomogeneous collapsing behaviors at infinity. The main result states that any nonconstant harmonic function on such spaces yields a definite exponential growth rate which depends explicitly on the geometric data at infinity.

We study the Cauchy data spaces of the strongly Callias-type operators using maximal domain on manifolds with non-compact boundary, with the aim of understanding the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer index and elliptic boundary value problems.
We present the first proof-of-principle Cauchy evolutions of asymptotically global AdS spacetimes with no imposed symmetries, employing a numerical scheme based on the generalized harmonic form of the Einstein equations. In this scheme, the main diff iculty in removing all symmetry assumptions can be phrased in terms of finding a set of generalized harmonic source functions that are consistent with AdS boundary conditions. In four spacetime dimensions, we detail an explicit set of source functions that achieves evolution in full generality. A similar prescription should also lead to stable evolution in higher spacetime dimensions, various couplings with matter fields, and on the Poincare patch. We apply this scheme to obtain the first long-time stable 3+1 simulations of four dimensional spacetimes with a negative cosmological constant, using initial data sourced by a massless scalar field. We present preliminary results of gravitational collapse with no symmetry assumptions, and the subsequent quasi-normal mode ringdown to a static black hole in the bulk, which corresponds to evolution towards a homogeneous state on the boundary.

We consider a hyperbolic Dirac-type operator with growing potential on a a spatially non-compact globally hyperbolic manifold. We show that the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer boundary value problem for such operator is Fredholm and obtain a formula for this in dex in terms of the local integrals and the relative eta-invariant introduced by Braverman and Shi. This extends recent results of Bar and Strohmaier, who studied the index of a hyperbolic Dirac operator on a spatially compact globally hyperbolic manifold.
