Local quasiparticle states around impurities provide essential insight into the mechanism of unconventional superconductivity, especially when the candidate materials are proximate to an antiferromagnetic Mott-insulating phase. While such states have been reported in atom-based cuprates and iron-based compounds, they are unexplored in organic superconductors which feature tunable molecular orientation. Here we employ scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy to reveal multiple forms of robustness of an exotic $s$-wave superconductivity in epitaxial Rb$_3$C$_{60}$ films against merohedral disorder, non-magnetic single impurities and step edges at the atomic scale. Also observed have been Yu-Shiba-Rusinov (YSR) states induced by deliberately incurred Fe adatoms that act as magnetic scatters. The bound states display abrupt spatial decay and vary in energy with the Fe adatom registry. Our results and the universal optimal superconductivity at half-filling point towards local electron pairing in which the multiorbital electronic correlations and intramolecular phonons together drive the high-temperature superconductivity of doped fullerenes.

In high-superconducting transition temperature ($T_{rm c}$) iron-based superconductors, interband sign reversal ($s_{rm pm}$) and sign preserving ($s_{rm ++}$) $s$-wave superconducting states have been primarily discussed as the plausible superconduc ting mechanism. We study Co impurity scattering effects on the superconductivity in order to achieve an important clue on the pairing mechanism using single crystal Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$Se and depict a phase diagram of a FeSe system. Both superconductivity and structural transition / orbital order are suppressed by the Co replacement on the Fe sites and disappear above $x$ = 0.036. These correlated suppressions represent a common background physics behind these physical phenomena in the multiband Fermi surfaces of FeSe. By comparing experimental data and theories so far proposed, the suppression of $T_{rm c}$ against the residual resistivity is shown to be much weaker than that predicted in the case of a general sign reversal and a full gap $s_{pm}$ models. The origin of the superconducting paring in FeSe is discussed in terms of its multiband electronic structure.
Varying the superconducting transition temperature over a large scale of a cuprate superconductor is a necessary step for identifying the unsettled mechanism of superconductivity. Chemical doping or element substitution has been proven to be effectiv e but also brings about lattice disorder. Such disorder can completely destroy superconductivity even at a fixed doping level. Pressure has been thought to be the most clean method for tuning superconductivity. However, pressure-induced increase of disorder was recognized from recent experiments. By choosing a disordered Tl$_{2}$Ba$_{2}$CaCu$_{2}$O$_{8+delta}$ at the optimal doping, we perform single-crystal x-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements at high pressures. The obtained structural data provides evidence for the robust feature for the disorder of this material in the pressure range studied. This feature ensures the pressure effects on superconductivity distinguishable from the disorder. The derived parabolic-like behavior of the transition temperature with pressure up to near 30 GPa, having a maximum around 7 GPa, offers a platform for testing any realistic theoretical models in a nearly constant disorder environment. Such a behavior can be understood when considering the carrier concentration and the pairing interaction strength as two pressure intrinsic variables.
The recent discovery of superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelate films has aroused great interest since it provides a new platform to explore the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity. However, superconductivity only appears in the thi n film form and synthesizing superconducting nickelate films is extremely challenging, limiting the in-depth studies on this compound. Here, we explore the critical parameters in the growth of high quality nickelate films using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). We found that stoichiometry is crucial in optimizing the crystalline structure and realizing superconductivity in nickelate films. In precursor NdNiO3 films, optimal stoichiometry of cations yields the most compact lattice while off-stoichiometry of cations causes obvious lattice expansion, influencing the subsequent topotactic reduction and the emergence of superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelates. Surprisingly, in-situ reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) indicates that some impurity phases always appear once Sr ions are doped into NdNiO3 although the X-ray diffraction (XRD) data are of high quality. While these impurity phases do not seem to suppress the superconductivity, their impacts on the electronic and magnetic structure deserve further studies. Our work demonstrates and highlights the significance of cation stoichiometry in superconducting nickelate family.
Two superconducting phases of Re3W have been found with different physical properties. One phase crystallizes in a non-centrosymmetric cubic (alpha-Mn) structure and has a superconducting transition temperature, Tc, of 7.8 K. The other phase has a he xagonal centrosymmetric structure and is superconducting with a Tc of 9.4 K. Switching between the two phases is possible by annealing the sample or remelting it. The properties of both phases of Re3W have been characterized by powder neutron diffraction, magnetization, and resistivity measurements. The temperature dependence of the lower and the upper critical fields have been measured for both phases. These are used to determine the penetration depths and the coherence lengths for these systems.
We find an unambiguous relationship between disorder-driven features in the temperature dependence of the resistance and the behavior, as functions of the temperature, of the parameters necessary to describe some of the relaxation processes in the ph otoinduced differential time-resolved reflectivity of three samples of Nd$_{1.83}$Ce$_{0.17}$CuO$_{4pmdelta}$. The latter, sharing the same Ce content, have been fabricated and annealed ad-hoc in order to differ only for the degree of disorder, mainly related to oxygen content and location, and, consequently, for the temperature dependence of the resistance: two of them present a minimum in the resistance and behave as a superconductor and as a metal, respectively, the third behaves as an insulator. The systematic coherence between the resistance and the relaxation parameters behaviors in temperature for all three samples is absolutely remarkable and shows that pump-probe measurements can be extremely sensitive to disorder as it drives the emergence of new excitations and of the related relaxation channels as in this paradigmatic case.
