We present triple-axis neutron scattering studies of static and dynamic magnetic stripes in an optimally oxygen-doped cuprate superconductor, La$_{2}$CuO$_{4+y}$, which exhibits a clean superconducting transition at $T_{rm c}=42$ K. Polarization analysis reveals that the magnetic stripe structure is equally represented along both of the tetragonal crystal axes and that the fluctuating stripes display significant weight for in-plane as well as out-of-plane spin components. Both static magnetic order as well as low-energy fluctuations are fully developed in zero applied magnetic field and the low-energy spin fluctuations at $hbar omega = 0.3-10$ meV intensify upon cooling. We interpret this as an indication that superconductivity and low-energy spin fluctuations co-exist microscopically in spatial regions which are separated from domains with static magnetic order.

The in-plane optical conductivity of seven La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4) single crystals with x between 0 and 0.15 has been studied from 30 to 295 K. All doped samples exhibit strong peaks in the far-infrared, which closely resemble those observed in Cu-O ladde rs with one-dimensional charge-ordering. The behavior with doping and temperature of the peak energy, width, and intensity allows us to conclude that we are observing charge stripes dynamics in La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4) on the fast time scale of infrared spectroscopy.
We investigate the hole and lattice dynamics in a prototypical high temperature superconducting system La{2-x}Sr{x}CuO{4} using infrared spectroscopy. By exploring the anisotropy in the electronic response of CuO2 planes we show that our results supp ort the notion of stripes. Nevertheless, charge ordering effects are not apparent in the phonon spectra. All crystals show only the expected infrared active modes for orthorhombic phases without evidence for additional peaks that may be indicative of static charge ordering. Strong electron-phonon interaction manifests itself through the Fano lineshape of several phonon modes. This analysis reveals anisotropic electron-phonon coupling across the phase diagram, including superconducting crystals. Due to the ubiquity of the CuO2 plane, these results may have implications for other high Tc superconductors.
We present results of magnetic neutron diffraction experiments on the co-doped super-oxygenated La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4+y) (LSCO+O) system with x=0.09. The spin-density wave has been studied and we find long-range incommensurate antiferromagnetic order bel ow T_N coinciding with the superconducting ordering temperature T_c=40 K. The incommensurability value is consistent with a hole-doping of n_h~1/8, but in contrast to non-superoxygenated La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4) with hole-doping close to n_h ~ 1/8 the magnetic order parameter is not field-dependent. We attribute this to the magnetic order being fully developed in LSCO+O as in the other striped lanthanum-cuprate systems.

We report $^{139}$La and $^{63}$Cu NMR investigation of the successive charge order, spin order, and superconducting transitions in super-oxygenated La$_2$CuO$_{4+y}$ single crystal with stage-4 excess oxygen order at $T_{stage}simeq 290$ K. We show that the stage-4 order induces tilting of CuO$_6$ octahedra below $T_{stage}$, which in turn causes $^{139}$La NMR line broadening. The structural distortion continues to develop far below $T_{stage}$, and completes at $T_{charge}simeq 60$ K, where charge order sets in. This sequence is reminiscent of the the charge order transition in Nd co-doped La$_{1.88}$Sr$_{0.12}$CuO$_4$ that sets in once the low temperature tetragonal (LTT) phase is established. We also show that the paramagnetic $^{63}$Cu NMR signals are progressively wiped out below $T_{charge}$ due to enhanced low frequency spin fluctuations, but the residual $^{63}$Cu NMR signals continue to exhibit the characteristics expected for optimally doped superconducting CuO$_2$ planes. This indicates that charge order in La$_2$CuO$_{4+y}$ does not take place uniformly in space. Low frequency Cu spin fluctuations as probed by $^{139}$La nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate are mildly glassy, and do not exhibit critical divergence at $T_{spin}$($simeq T_{c}$)=42 K. These findings, including the spatially inhomogeneous nature of the charge ordered state, are qualitatively similar to the case of La$_{1.885}$Sr$_{0.115}$CuO$_4$ [T. Imai et al., Phys. Rev. B 96 (2017) 224508, and A. Arsenault et al., Phys. Rev. B 97 (2018) 064511], but both charge and spin order take place more sharply in the present case.
We present high energy X-ray diffraction studies on the structural phases of an optimal high-$T_c$ superconductor La$_{2-x}$Sr$_x$CuO$_{4+y}$ tailored by co-hole-doping. This is specifically done by varying the content of two very different chemical species, Sr and O, respectively, in order to study the influence of each. A superstructure known as staging is observed in all samples, with the staging number $n$ increasing for higher Sr dopings $x$. We find that the staging phases emerge abruptly with temperature, and can be described as a second order phase transition with transition temperatures slightly depending on the Sr doping. The Sr appears to correlate the interstitial oxygen in a way that stabilises the reproducibility of the staging phase both in terms of staging period and volume fraction in a specific sample. The structural details as investigated in this letter appear to have no direct bearing on the electronic phase separation previously observed in the same samples. This provides new evidence that the electronic phase separation is determined by the overall hole concentration rather than specific Sr/O content and concommittant structural details.
