Physical layer security is known as a promising paradigm to ensure security for the beyond 5G (B5G) networks in the presence of eavesdroppers. In this paper, we elaborate on a tractable analysis framework to evaluate the reliability and security of wireless-powered decode-and-forward (DF) multi-relay networks. The nonlinear energy harvesters, in-phase and quadrature-phase imbalance (IQI) and channel estimation errors (CEEs) are taken into account in the considered system. To further improve the secure performance, two relay selection strategies are presented: 1) suboptimal relay selection (SRS); 2) optimal relay selection (ORS). Specifically, exact analytical expressions for the outage probability (OP) and the intercept probability (IP) are derived in closed-form. For the IP, we consider that the eavesdropper can wiretap the signal from the source or the relay. In order to obtain more useful insights, we carry out the asymptotic analysis and diversity orders for the OP in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime under non-ideal and ideal conditions. Numerical results show that: 1) Although the mismatches of amplitude/phase of transmitter (TX)/receiver (RX) limit the OP performance, it can enhance IP performance; 2) Large number of relays yields better OP performance; 3) There are error floors for the OP because of the CEEs; 4) There is a trade-off for the OP and IO to obtain the balance between reliability and security.

In this letter, we introduce a novel mixed terahertz (THz)-radio frequency (RF) wireless system architecture, which can be used for backhaul/fronthaul applications, and we deliver the theoretical framework for its performance assessment. In more deta il, after identifying the main design parameters and characteristics, we derive novel closed-form expressions for the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio cumulative density function, the outage probability, and the symbol error rate, assuming that the system experiences the joint effect of fading and stochastic antenna misalignment. The derived analytical framework is verified through simulations and quantifies the systems effectiveness and reliability. Finally, our results contribute to the extraction of useful design guidelines.
We investigate the reliability and security of the ambient backscatter (AmBC) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems, where the source aims to communication with two NOMA users in the presence of an eavesdropper. We consider a more practical c ase that nodes and backscatter device (BD) suffer from in-phase and quadrature-phase imbalance (IQI). More specifically, exact analytical expressions for the outage probability (OP) and the intercept probability (IP) are derived in closedform. Moreover, the asymptotic behaviors and corresponding diversity orders for the OP are discussed. Numerical results show that: 1) Although IQI reduces the reliability, it can enhance the security. 2) Compared with the traditional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) system, the AmBC-NOMA system can obtain better reliability when the signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio is low; 3) There are error floors for the OP because of the reflection coefficient b{eta} .

In this paper, we analyze the symbol error rate (SER) performance of the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) enabled three-node differential decode-and-forward (DDF) relay networks, which adopt the power splitting (PS) protoc ol at the relay. The use of non-coherent differential modulation eliminates the need for sending training symbols to estimate the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) at all network nodes, and therefore improves the power efficiency, as compared with the coherent modulation. However, performance analysis results are not yet available for the state-of-the-art detectors such as the maximum-likelihood detector (MLD) and approximate MLD. Existing works rely on the Monte-Carlo simulation method to show the existence of an optimal PS ratio that minimizes the overall SER. In this work, we propose a near-optimal detector with linear complexity with respect to the modulation size. We derive an approximate SER expression and prove that the proposed detector achieves the full diversity order. Based on our expression, the optimal PS ratio can be accurately estimated without requiring any Monte-Carlo simulation. We also extend the proposed detector and its SER analysis for adopting the time switching (TS) protocol at the relay. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of our proposed detector and the accuracy of our SER results in various network scenarios for both PS and TS protocols.
In the Internet of Things, learning is one of most prominent tasks. In this paper, we consider an Internet of Things scenario where federated learning is used with simultaneous transmission of model data and wireless power. We investigate the trade-o ff between the number of communication rounds and communication round time while harvesting energy to compensate the energy expenditure. We formulate and solve an optimization problem by considering the number of local iterations on devices, the time to transmit-receive the model updates, and to harvest sufficient energy. Numerical results indicate that maximum ratio transmission and zero-forcing beamforming for the optimization of the local iterations on devices substantially boost the test accuracy of the learning task. Moreover, maximum ratio transmission instead of zero-forcing provides the best test accuracy and communication round time trade-off for various energy harvesting percentages. Thus, it is possible to learn a model quickly with few communication rounds without depleting the battery.
