Rotational structures have been measured using the Jurogam II and GAMMASPHERE arrays at low spin following the 155Gd({alpha},2n)157Dy and 148Nd(12C, 5n)155Dy reactions at 25 and 65 MeV, respectively. We report high-K bands, which are conjectured to be the first candidates of a K{pi}= 2+ {gamma} vibrational band, built on the [505]11/2- neutron orbital, in both odd-A 155, 157Dy isotopes. The coupling of the first excited K=0+ states or the so-called b{eta} vibrational bands at 661 and 676 keV in 154Dy and 156Dy to the [505]11/2- orbital, to produce a K{pi}=11/2- band, was not observed in both 155Dy and 157Dy, respectively. The implication of these findings on the interpretation of the first excited 0+ states in the core nuclei 154Dy and 156Dy are also discussed.

The fusion and transfer induced fission reaction $^{9}$Be($^{238}$U,~f) with 6.2 MeV/u beam energy, using a unique setup consisting of AGATA, VAMOS++ and EXOGAM detectors, was used to populate through the fission process and study the neutron-rich $^ {119,121}$In isotopes. This setup enabled the prompt-delayed $gamma$-ray spectroscopy of isotopes in the time range of $100~rm{ns} - 200~murm{s}$. In the odd-$A$ $^{119,121}$In isotopes, indications of a short half-life $19/2^{-}$ isomeric state, in addition to the previously known $25/2^{+}$ isomeric state, were observed from the present data. Further, new prompt transitions above the $25/2^{+}$ isomer in $^{121}$In were identified along with reevaluation of its half-life. The experimental data were compared with the theoretical results obtained in the framework of large-scale shell-model calculations in a restricted model space. The $langle pi g_{9/2} u h_{11/2};I arrowvert hat{mathcal{H}}arrowvert pi g_{9/2} u h_{11/2};Irangle$ two-body matrix elements of residual interaction were modified to explain the excitation energies and the $B(E2)$ transition probabilities in the neutron-rich In isotopes. The (i) decreasing trend of $E(29/2^{+}) - E(25/2^{+})$ in odd-In (with dominant configuration $pi g_{9/2}^{-1} u h_{11/2}^{-2}$ and maximum aligned spin of $29/2^{+}$) and (ii) increasing trend of $E(27/2^{+}) - E(23/2^{+})$ in odd-Sb (with dominant configuration $pi g_{7/2}^{+1} u h_{11/2}^{-2}$ and maximum aligned spin of $27/2^{+}$) with increasing neutron number could be understood as a consequence of hole-hole and particle-hole interactions, respectively.

We expand the triaxial projected shell model basis to include triaxially-deformed multi-quasiparticle states. This allows us to study the yrast and gamma-vibrational bands up to high spins for both gamma-soft and well-deformed nuclei. As the first ap plication, a systematic study of the high-spin states in Er-isotopes is performed. The calculated yrast and gamma-bands are compared with the known experimental data, and it is shown that the agreement between theory and experiment is quite satisfactory. The calculation leads to predictions for bands based on one- and two-gamma phonon where current data are still sparse. It is observed that gamma-bands for neutron-deficient isotopes of 156Er and 158Er are close to the yrast band, and further these bands are predicted to be nearly degenerate for high-spin states.
The $beta$-delayed neutron emission probabilities of neutron rich Hg and Tl nuclei have been measured together with $beta$-decay half-lives for 20 isotopes of Au, Hg, Tl, Pb and Bi in the mass region N$gtrsim$126. These are the heaviest species where neutron emission has been observed so far. These measurements provide key information to evaluate the performance of nuclear microscopic and phenomenological models in reproducing the high-energy part of the $beta$-decay strength distribution. In doing so, it provides important constraints to global theoretical models currently used in $r$-process nucleosynthesis.

We report the first observation of the parity-violating 2.2 MeV gamma-ray asymmetry $A^{np}_gamma$ in neutron-proton capture using polarized cold neutrons incident on a liquid parahydrogen target at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. $A^{np}_gamma$ isolates the $Delta I=1$, mbox{$^{3}S_{1}rightarrow {^{3}P_{1}}$} component of the weak nucleon-nucleon interaction, which is dominated by pion exchange and can be directly related to a single coupling constant in either the DDH meson exchange model or pionless EFT. We measured $A^{np}_gamma = [-3.0 pm 1.4 (stat) pm 0.2 (sys)]times 10^{-8}$, which implies a DDH weak $pi NN$ coupling of $h_{pi}^{1} = [2.6 pm 1.2(stat) pm 0.2(sys)] times 10^{-7}$ and a pionless EFT constant of $C^{^{3}S_{1}rightarrow ^{3}P_{1}}/C_{0}=[-7.4 pm 3.5 (stat) pm 0.5 (sys)] times 10^{-11}$ MeV$^{-1}$. We describe the experiment, data analysis, systematic uncertainties, and the implications of the result.

Inspired by the recent experimental data (Phys. Lett. B {bf 675} (2009) 420), we extend the triaxial projected shell model approach to study the $gamma$-band structure in odd-mass nuclei. As a first application of the new development, the $gamma$-vib rational structure of $^{103}$Nb is investigated. It is demonstrated that the model describes the ground-state band and multi-phonon $gamma$-vibrations quite satisfactorily, supporting the interpretation of the data as one of the few experimentally-known examples of simultaneous occurrence of one- and two-$gamma$-phonon vibrational bands. This generalizes the well-known concept of the surface $gamma$-oscillation in deformed nuclei built on the ground-state in even-even systems to $gamma$-bands based on quasiparticle configurations in odd-mass systems.
