Here we present an efficient quantum algorithm to generate an equivalent many-body state to Laughlins $ u=1/3$ fractional quantum Hall state on a digitized quantum computer. Our algorithm only uses quantum gates acting on neighboring qubits in a quasi-one-dimensional setting, and its circuit depth is linear in the number of qubits, i.e., the number of Landau orbitals in the second quantized picture. We identify correlation functions that serve as signatures of the Laughlin state and discuss how to obtain them on a quantum computer. We also discuss a generalization of the algorithm for creating quasiparticles in the Laughlin state. This paves the way for several important studies, including quantum simulation of nonequilibrium dynamics and braiding of quasiparticles in quantum Hall states.

We present a quantum algorithm to compute the entanglement spectrum of arbitrary quantum states. The interesting universal part of the entanglement spectrum is typically contained in the largest eigenvalues of the density matrix which can be obtained from the lower Renyi entropies through the Newton-Girard method. Obtaining the $p$ largest eigenvalues ($lambda_1>lambda_2ldots>lambda_p$) requires a parallel circuit depth of $mathcal{O}(p(lambda_1/lambda_p)^p)$ and $mathcal{O}(plog(N))$ qubits where up to $p$ copies of the quantum state defined on a Hilbert space of size $N$ are needed as the input. We validate this procedure for the entanglement spectrum of the topologically-ordered Laughlin wave function corresponding to the quantum Hall state at filling factor $ u=1/3$. Our scaling analysis exposes the tradeoffs between time and number of qubits for obtaining the entanglement spectrum in the thermodynamic limit using finite-size digital quantum computers. We also illustrate the utility of the second Renyi entropy in predicting a topological phase transition and in extracting the localization length in a many-body localized system.

The nature of the fractional quantum Hall state at quarter filling in a wide quantum well is still under debate. Both one-component non-Abelian and two-component Abelian orders have been proposed to describe the system. Interestingly, these candidate s received support from different experiments under disparate conditions. In this article, we focus on non-Abelian orders from Cooper pairing between composite fermions and the Abelian Halperin-(5,5,3) order. We discuss and predict systematically different experimental signatures to identify them in future experiment. In particular, we address the Mach-Zehnder interferometry experiment and show that it can identify the recently proposed 22111 parton order.
We show that the macroscopic magnetic and electronic properties of strongly correlated electron systems can be manipulated by coupling them to a cavity mode. As a paradigmatic example we consider the Fermi-Hubbard model and find that the electron-cav ity coupling enhances the magnetic interaction between the electron spins in the ground-state manifold. At half filling this effect can be observed by a change in the magnetic susceptibility. At less than half filling, the cavity introduces a next-nearest neighbour hopping and mediates a long-range electron-electron interaction between distant sites. We study the ground state properties with Tensor Network methods and find that the cavity coupling can induce a new phase characterized by a momentum-space pairing effect for electrons.

We consider a non-Abelian candidate state at filling factor $ u=3/7$ state belonging to the parton family. We find that, in the second Landau level of GaAs (i.e. at filling factor $ u=2+3/7$), this state is energetically superior to the standard Jain composite-fermion state and also provides a very good representation of the ground state found in exact diagonalization studies of finite systems. This leads us to predict that emph{if} a fractional quantum Hall effect is observed at $ u=3/7$ in the second Landau level, it is likely to be described by this new non-Abelian state. We enumerate experimentally measurable properties that can verify the topological structure of this state.
In this work we report the opening of an energy gap at the filling factor $ u=3+1/3$, firmly establishing the ground state as a fractional quantum Hall state. This and other odd-denominator states unexpectedly break particle-hole symmetry. Specifical ly, we find that the relative magnitudes of the energy gaps of the $ u=3+1/3$ and $3+1/5$ states from the upper spin branch are reversed when compared to the $ u=2+1/3$ and $2+1/5$ counterpart states in the lower spin branch. Our findings raise the possibility that the former states have a non-conventional origin.
